This is a meditation to help you settle after a long and intense day.

This meditation offers a transition from a long and eventful day to a new season of your day.

This new season or this new part might be as colourful and eventful as the day you just had,

But you'll enter it with a different quality of presence.

After an intense day,

You're probably out of willpower to meditate or to do anything for that matter.

Guess what?

This is fantastic news.

It's fantastic because you don't need to use willpower or control to meditate.

You can already drop any expectation and let yourself be guided.

If you have an agenda for yourself,

An expectation about how you're supposed to feel or how you want to feel by the end of this meditation,

Give yourself permission to drop it.

You have nothing to achieve and no state to reach.

Allow this session to be easy.

If you're tired,

You're welcome to be tired.

If you wander or are spiralling,

It is all welcome as well.

Now,

Let your body settle a bit more.

Take some time to let your body land after today.

It can take a bit of time for your body to settle,

So take it at its own pace.

You have time.

You're giving yourself time.

Try to see if you can let go of any sense of urgency or rush.

If you're sitting,

Let your hips be heavy and fully land on your cushion or your chair.

And if you're lying down,

Focus on your hips and shoulders.

Let them sink down and settle.

Allow gravity to meld the day away,

Drop by drop.

What I mean there is not for you to relax.

Meditation is not about relaxing.

Meditation is about being present and letting things unfold.

So,

Bear witness to how your body is and how it feels,

And how gravity is working on it.

You might have a lot of thoughts.

It's very normal.

There's nothing to worry about.

You don't have anything to do.

Trust your body to cradle your day and let your thoughts and emotions dissipate in it.

There are usually two different paces,

The one of your body and the one of your mind.

And it's quite often that those two paces are not in sync.

So,

See if you can sync them by leaning into your body's pace.

Remember to give it time.

There's no rush.

Allow this change of pace to be a transition to the next season of your day.

Simply notice if those paces,

The one of your body and the one of your mind,

Have a different quality from the one at the beginning of this meditation.

It's fine either way.

It's fine either way.

Now,

You can slowly,

At your own pace,

Come out of your current position and start moving your extremities.

You can move your fingers,

Your toes.

Get ready to transition into your next activity without any sense of urgency.

Your body knows the right pace.

You can trust it.

You can thank yourself for taking this time for yourself.

And I thank you for spending it with me and wish you to carry this practice with you for the rest of your day.
