I am so grateful to be part of your day today.

I'm going to share a mindful walk.

When you exercise,

You do a lot.

You do a little every day.

But looking around more,

Being more aware of your body and seeing new things.

Most of us block it out every day.

And for some,

We use a wheelchair or other things to help us get around.

Noticing how your mind and body work together effortlessly.

When you are doing something as routine as walking,

It can help calm you down and discover new things about yourself and the world around you.

For this exercise,

Let's choose a walk.

You do the walk every day.

And it can be as simple as getting from one room to another or walking around the block in your neighborhood.

Let's plan to take the same time you normally do to make this walk happen.

But let's appreciate every moment of it.

Before we start,

Stand tall with your arms down by your sides.

Close your eyes and take a really big breath in.

And then exhale.

Let all the breath out of your mouth completely.

Notice how you're standing and how your body feels.

Does your body feel tired or do you have a lot of energy?

Now,

You know yourself.

I'm going to be aware of my surroundings on this.

Open your eyes.

And before you start,

Take a moment to look around you.

You're going to choose three things around us.

Say their names and truly appreciate them.

For example,

You may say sky.

Look at the sky and take a moment to appreciate it.

So go ahead and choose the first thing.

Say its name.

And as you breathe in and as you breathe out,

Take a moment to really appreciate it.

Now choose another thing around you.

Say its name.

And as you breathe in and as you breathe out,

Appreciate it.

Choose one last thing.

Breathe in and then breathe out and appreciate it.

Next,

We're going to smell what's around us.

Try to figure out where these smells are coming from.

How they make you feel and what they remind you of.

Listen to the sounds around you.

What is creating the sounds?

Take a moment to listen to the quieter sounds as well as the louder ones.

Feel how hot and cold it is.

Are you comfortable in the clothes you are wearing?

Alright now,

It's time to take our walk.

Take your first step.

Let's walk at your normal pace.

But just feel aware of your surroundings.

Look around you.

Are there things you haven't seen before?

Even though you walk by this all the time?

Breathe in and out.

Notice how your body is healing.

Are you still standing tall?

Where do your hands go as you walk?

Continue your walk.

Now let's stop standing tall once again.

Put your hands by your side and close your eyes.

Breathe in and breathe out.

Think about any new things you may have noticed during this walk.

Open your eyes.

Hopefully this exercise gave you a moment to appreciate your surroundings.

Have an absolutely wonderful day.
