The Tree: A Grounding Practice For Nervous System Regulation
by Lisa Berry
I call this meditation The Tree. It's a grounding practice for artists (and anyone) who wants to build emotional stability, presence, and strength from the inside out. This is not about escaping stress. It’s about training for life. As you enter this meditation, you may notice how quickly the mind wants to wander. You get distracted. Restless. Like you can only stay present for so long before something pulls you away. That’s not a problem to solve. That’s what we’re working with. This practice invites you back into your body, again and again, to gently strengthen your nervous system. Each return builds emotional fitness. Each moment of presence trains you to stay grounded a little longer than before. This isn’t about forcing calm. It’s about renewal through repetition. Practicing when nothing is wrong so your body learns a new way to respond when things feel uncertain. Think of this as your emotional gym. A place to retrain how you meet the world from the inside out.
