Release Pressure For A Joyful, Productive Day

One of the most common difficulties my clients share is the pressure they put on themselves to be "perfect" — to get it all done without worry or stress. Our to-do lists are ever-growing, it's no wonder we can feel burnt out. But what would happen if we let go of that pressure, we released perfectionism and we pivoted our thoughts into a kinder, yet still productive, mindset? In this meditation, we celebrate all the things you are doing, let go of the noise and focus on how to have a mindful, meaningful, and yes still productive, day.

Life can feel like a spinning top always moving never stopping until it abruptly just goes off kilter and then life is left flat and often hard to get started again it's when we keep going at that fast relentless pace and we feel scattered and overwhelmed it can often be too much but when we slow down we find our footing we ground ourselves things will seem clear easier and flow naturally so when those moments happen when the top stops spinning we will find our balance and we will be able to get up faster and start again so today in this meditation we are going to do just that we are going to find our balance in the spinning flow of our day and we are going to embrace potential falls in order to get up with more resilience to feel more grounded as we move and to let go of the constant pressure and the feelings of what if let's begin by closing our eyes take a nice long slow inhale through the nose and out through the mouth let's do that again a nice long slow inhale through the nose and pause at the top and then as you exhale feel any tension in any pressure just leaving your body let's do that one last time inhale in through the nose fully filling up your lungs in your belly pause at the top and push that air out now continue to breathe naturally find the flow of your breath in and out following the breath through the nose into the lungs filling up the belly and then following it out drawing your attention to your heart right now and just notice it beating and as you breathe in slowing slowing down the heart rate and finding your flow in this present moment letting go of everything that happened before and not thinking about what's to come just connecting here with your breath and the beat of your heart managing everything we have going on in our day can feel extremely overwhelming it can seem like there is a never-ending to-do list and the pile just keeps getting higher and higher but it's when we take a moment to step back to turn things into smaller more tangible items on our list is when we can release the pressure and we want to release the pressure now so to begin we are going to let go of that overwhelming to-do list let go of all of those things that we have planned just for this moment it might help to visualize a laptop in front of you or perhaps your to-do list in a notebook and actually close it now picture yourself closing the laptop shutting the notebook and putting it away visualize a locker take that laptop or that notebook and put it in the locker right now in addition to that laptop add in anything that's not serving you right now a conversation you're avoiding having or perhaps just any feelings of overwhelm put them in the locker and close it now lock the locker knowing that you can go back to it at any time but right now this time is just for you we are going to do a series of affirmations right now to really ground ourself in this moment to silently repeat after me continue to breathe in and out slow and steady breathing in through the nose and out through the nose now silently repeat I let go I let go of pressure I let go of the pressure others put on me I let go of the pressure I put on myself let go of any expectations I let go of negative energy I let go of the negative words I say to myself I accept that I am doing the best that I can I know I am capable of doing all that I need to I know everything is going to get done and I know I am going to do it well I am giving myself permission to let go of pressure I give myself permission right now to just flow with my day I will give myself grace and I will celebrate even the smallest task I accomplish as I move forward through my day I am capable of doing great things I have accomplished so much and I will accomplish even more I am doing a great job I can handle hard things and I allow myself to celebrate handling all that is on my plate I will give myself a break today I will lean into joy I am grateful for all that I have and I am grateful for all that I continue to build everything will happen at the pace it needs to because I let go I allow things to unfold the way they need to I am giving myself grace and I am proud of who I am it's okay to slow down I give myself permission to enjoy my day because I matter my happiness is important to me so today I let go of pressure I let go I let go and I will thrive now take a nice long slow inhale in and feel feel that energy feel that confidence feel the confidence in knowing that you are in control of how your day goes you are in control of how you react to any situation you are in control of your to-do list you are in control of what needs to be done and you can do it at a pace that gives you grace that brings you joy and that allows you to slow down the spinning top and to see clearly holding on to this moment bring that locker back into your mind's eye undo the lock open the door take out that notebook take out top take out your to-do list because now you can approach it with grace all of the things that you need to do will get done but you will also find space for yourself you will also take breaks you will find pockets of joy within your day and when the overwhelm starts to bubble and the top starts to spin a little fast again and get a little out of control you have the tools to slow down come back to your breath and let go you hold the power to control where you go next so smile and get ready to have an amazing day take a nice long slow inhale in through the nose and breathe a sigh out audibly and when you're ready open your eyes
