Welcome to your guided meditation and please take all the time that you need to settle into a safe and very comfortable position,
Ensuring that all of your external needs are met and making no compromise on your comfort.
Gently closing down your eyes and bringing your awareness inwards,
Grounding yourself into this space by gently deepening your breath.
Take a slow breath in and a longer breath out.
Notice the gentle rise and fall of your belly.
Notice the sensation of your breath going in and out through your nostrils,
Using no effort at all as your body and your mind starts to relax.
Now imagine that you are stood at the top of a set of stairs.
You can see nine steps in front of you and you have the inner knowing that these nine steps will lead you to a sanctuary of rest and relaxation.
Take a slow breath in and a longer breath out.
And on the breath out,
Take one step down to step number nine.
Take a slow breath in and on the breath out,
Take another step down to number eight.
And continue the rest in your own time,
Counting and stepping down to zero.
On every breath out,
Feel yourself becoming more calm,
More rested and more relaxed.
The more you let go,
The deeper you will be held and supported.
When you reach zero,
You step off onto the platform of an old railway station in the middle of nowhere.
You start walking towards a long train.
You see the steam billowing out from its engine.
The train is so long that you can see it extends out into the horizon.
You walk alongside several carriages and then notice an open wagon.
When you step inside,
You see that it is filled with fresh hay.
You lay down on the hay and position yourself so that you can gaze out at the open door out into nature.
You notice that the weather is mild and there is a gentle,
Soothing breeze.
You nestle into your own nurturing nest,
Which feels soft,
Warm and perfectly comfortable.
You feel slight vibrations rumble through the carriage as the train powers up and you hear its mighty engine hissing as it builds enough power to pull the massive weight.
The wagon begins to roll very slowly and you deepen your breath to prepare for a gentle,
Long and relaxing journey.
As the train begins to pick up speed,
You feel the vibrations from its engine are strong yet soothing.
The movement of the train is gentle and calming.
The sounds around you then begin to even out into a relaxing,
Peaceful hum.
As you look outside,
You notice the most beautiful view.
The sun is beginning to set on the horizon behind a soft,
Rolling mountain range in the distance.
The colours of the sunset are breathtaking as the pinks and blues of the horizon meet the yellow and orange glow of the sun.
You are feeling comfortable as you are gently rocked by the train's movement,
Swaying into relaxation.
Your eyes become heavy.
You are lulled into comforting,
Soothing and peaceful rest on this sleepy train.
As you commence your journey to a restful night's sleep,
Silently whisper to yourself,
Sleep comes to restore and heal me.
I embrace rest as a natural healing medicine.
My body feels heavy and calm.
My muscles are completely relaxed.
My mind is quiet,
Peaceful and clear.
You are so worthy and deserving of this gift of rest.
So enjoy taking all the time that you need to drift off,
To float along on this dreamy train ride into deep,
Peaceful and relaxing sleep.
