A self hold meditation practice for mamas. From pregnancy on, you are sharing your body with your little one. You are holding your little one to nurture and nourish them. Your attention may be consumed by your little one. This meditation invites you to reconnect with your own self care, by placing your hands on your head, heart, and womb space with compassion and love. As you stay connected to how your body and mind feel, both you and your little one will benefit.

Welcome,

Mama.

I am so happy you are making time for you.

I'm sure a lot is going on in your world,

With new things arising,

New learnings,

New adjustments each day.

I offer this practice to you as a way of connecting back into your body,

Your breath,

Your heart.

I invite you to join me by finding a comfortable seat or standing.

And let's begin with three releasing and refreshing inhales and exhales.

You might continue with those releasing,

Refreshing breaths.

Or begin to breathe in and out through the nose,

Perhaps inviting in an even rhythm to your breath.

You might soften the muscles around the forehead and allow that softening to travel down the face,

Down the neck,

Shoulders,

Arms,

All the way to your fingertips.

You might sense that softening travel down the throat to the heart space,

The solar plexus,

To the womb space,

Perhaps making its way all the way down the legs to the feet.

You may soften the muscles around the womb space,

The navel,

And allow the breath to be full,

Expanding that area on the breath in and sensing the womb draw back towards the spine on the breath out,

Allowing this breath to be gentle,

Spacious,

And balanced.

We'll bring the awareness back up to the forehead,

And you can place one hand on the forehead and one hand on the back of the head where the head meets the neck.

We'll breathe with our awareness between the hands for about a minute or so,

Breathing with awareness between the hands,

Sensing and noticing without judgment.

When you feel ready,

The hand behind the head will come to the heart.

We'll breathe with awareness between the hands,

Breathing with awareness between the hands.

When you are ready,

You may take the hand from the forehead and bring it down to the womb space,

Breathing with awareness between the hands.

When you are ready,

You may take the hand from the forehead and bring it down to the womb space,

Breathing with awareness between the hands.

When you are ready,

You may take the hand from the forehead and bring it down to the womb space,

Breathing with awareness between the hands.

When you are ready,

You may take the hand from the forehead and bring it down to the womb space,

Breathing with awareness between the hands.

When you are ready,

You may take the hand from the forehead and bring it down to the womb space,

Breathing with awareness between the hands.

One more like that.

Gently and slowly you can remove the hands from over the eyes,

Opening the eyes,

Perhaps sensing,

Seeing,

And noticing yourself,

The refreshed capacity.

Thank you so much for joining me in this practice,

Mama.

May you have a beautiful rest of your day.
