In this meditation we will look at the different areas of our life and we will see how procrastination is showing up in these areas.
And the trick in this meditation is we are simply going to observe ourselves without judgment,
Simply going into our minds as a witness.
Exploring procrastination in our different life areas.
If you're sitting,
Sink into your seat.
If you're sleeping on the bed or on your yoga mat,
Simply feel your body relax into the surface beneath you and you can close your eyes.
And in this reflective meditation we are going to explore how procrastination might be affecting our different areas of life.
Our goal here is not to judge but to gently and honestly reflect on where this shows up.
Simply so we can understand,
Become aware and create positive change.
So bring your focus to your breath.
Inhale through your nose.
Hold it for the bit and then exhale through your mouth.
Inhale through your nose.
Hold it for the bit and exhale through your mouth.
As you exhale let go of any tension and let your mind and let your body settle into a state of calm,
A state of awareness.
We start with the area of our personal growth.
Think of your goals,
Your personal goals,
Your aspirations.
It could be books you've been meaning to read,
Skills you wanted to learn or courses you plan to take but you kept postponing.
Maybe a hobby you wanted to start.
What personal growth goals have you been putting off?
Why have you been putting this off?
Could it be a fear of failure or perhaps that feeling of not being good enough?
Or perhaps that feeling of not being good enough.
When you think of what you've been putting off,
What thoughts come to your mind?
You can imagine that you've been wanting to start a writing project and every time you sit down thoughts come like I don't know where to start.
Or what if no one likes my work?
Simply bring these to mind without judgment.
And moving to the next area,
Your career or the work that you do,
Your professional life.
Are there projects,
Emails or tasks you've been delaying at work?
Maybe it's asking for the promotion or asking for a raise or taking on a challenging assignment that feels intimidating.
What are the work-related tasks that you tend to avoid?
And how does this impact your career?
Could it be a fear of failure or a fear of success?
Or perfectionism?
What is keeping you stuck?
Simply bring this to your mind.
Moving to the area of health and wellness.
Think about your future.
Moving to the area of health and wellness.
Think about your physical well-being.
Are there health-related actions you've been neglecting?
Like regular exercise or healthy eating or scheduling medical appointments.
Do you procrastinate when it comes to your self-care?
And what habits do you need to cultivate for your health?
Stay open to whatever comes up.
And ask yourself,
Why do you avoid them?
And moving to the area of our relationships.
Are there important conversations you've been avoiding?
Or perhaps time you've been meaning to spend with loved ones but keep postponing?
Consider how procrastination might be creating distance in your relationships.
What interactions or commitments in your relationships could you be delaying?
And why could you be delaying these?
Could it be to avoid a potential conflict?
Or maybe there's that worry about how others will perceive you.
Or maybe simply fearing how the other person might react.
Turn your focus now to your financial well-being.
Are there budgeting tasks,
Bill payments or investments you've been procrastinating on?
Have you been able to manage your finances?
Or investments you've been procrastinating on?
Have you been putting off creating a financial plan for your future?
Or avoiding reviewing your spending habits?
What financial tasks have you been avoiding?
Is there a belief or an emotion behind this?
Maybe handling money makes you feel anxious or makes you feel overwhelmed.
Or maybe the idea of budgeting seems restrictive to you.
Maybe you avoid looking at credit card treatments because it feels stressful.
Reflect on what financial tasks you may have been avoiding.
And if there's an emotion or a belief behind this.
Moving to the role of fun and relaxation in your life.
Do you find yourself delaying activities that could bring joy or relaxation?
Sometimes procrastination can affect not just work,
But also our willingness to make time for leisure.
Do you procrastinate taking breaks or engaging in fun activities?
And why?
Maybe it's that feeling of guilt,
Feeling guilty about taking time for yourself.
Or the belief that productivity must always come first.
And moving on to the last day.
And moving on to the last area,
The area of our spiritual life.
And this could be your connection to a higher purpose,
Your mindfulness practice,
Or simply making time for deflection and self-discovery.
What spiritual practices have you been neglecting?
And ask yourself what is holding you back?
Maybe it's the feeling of disconnection.
Or maybe there's the doubt whether it's worth the effort.
Or maybe there's the doubt whether it's worth the effort.
Or maybe it's the belief that you need to be in a perfect mindset to start.
And as you reflect on each of these life areas,
Acknowledge your thoughts,
Acknowledge the patterns without judgment.
Place your hand over your heart and say to yourself,
I am aware of where I hold myself back.
And I choose to approach it with compassion.
Each day I take small steps toward a fuller,
More present life.
I am committed to honouring my goals and dreams in every area of my life.
And now take a deep breath.
And set a small intention for any of these areas that we went through in the meditation.
One small intention.
And it could be as simple as,
I will take 5 minutes tomorrow to start planning my personal growth.
Or I will write down one financial task to focus on this week.
Set a small intention for any one area.
Take one final deep breath and slowly exhale.
And open your eyes when you're ready.
Carry this awareness into your day.
And thank yourself for taking the time to reflect on these areas.
For showing up for your own growth.
Self-awareness is always the first step.
Love,
Light,
Blessings,
Namaste
