Hi and welcome to this guided meditation.

My name is Leslie and I will be a guide through these minutes of relaxation.

To start the meditation,

Move into a comfortable position.

This can be either sitting or sleeping.

If sitting on the floor,

You can sit cross-legged.

If using a chair,

Sit with your feet flat on the ground.

Keep your back upright,

Hands on your knees,

Palms facing outward and head slightly tilted upward.

If sleeping,

Sleep flat on your back without a pillow,

Arms to your sides,

Palms facing upwards.

Keep your eyes closed with a gentle focus between your eyebrows.

So let's focus on our breathing and start taking deep breaths.

Breathe in through your nose and let the air fill your lungs and then breathe out through the nose.

As we go through this meditation,

We will keep taking these deep relaxing breaths and if you find yourself lost,

Then bring back your focus to my voice and keep taking deep relaxing breaths.

This meditation is focused on mindfulness.

Mindfulness,

A big word in today's world.

But what is mindfulness and how can I be more mindful?

Mindfulness is simply living in the present moment.

It is doing things with your full attention.

It is being in the experience of every moment.

Be it the simple things like eating,

Driving,

Taking a shower,

The joyous moments of celebrating a birth or a wedding,

Or the sad moments of sickness or experiencing loss.

Looking at everything for what it is,

Appreciating everything for what it is,

Being grateful for the experience and living every moment of life to the fullest.

So while doing the simple things like eating,

Be mindful and eat.

Take a moment to appreciate the source of your nourishment,

The gifts that nature created as you bite,

Savour the flavours and just enjoy the experience of having the meal.

When walking,

Walk.

Appreciate the scenery around you,

The sounds,

The smells,

The sights.

When driving,

Just drive.

Appreciate the comfort that the vehicle offers you,

The convenience that it gives you.

When working,

Work.

Appreciate the need for security that the job provides and the opportunity to use the skills that you have.

When cooking,

Just cook,

Knowing that you are creating nourishment for your body.

When at a happy event,

Celebrate the joy of the event,

Soak in the joy on the people's faces,

Appreciate the smiles and the laughter.

And when at a sad event,

Take in the solemnity of the event,

Cherish the people around you and celebrate the memories that you have had.

Do everything that you do with the fullness of your mind.

And in that mindfulness,

Cherish the fulfilment that every moment offers you.

Thank you for your time.
