Welcome to this talk on a topic that is close to my heart and one that I believe is crucial for personal growth and fulfillment.

And the topic is being the self which one truly is.

We live in a world that often encourages us to conform to societal norms and expectations,

Trying to fit into predefined boxes.

This pressure can sometimes make us feel like we are not good enough as we are and that we need to change our self to be accepted and successful.

But what if I told you that the key to true happiness and success is not trying to fit in but rather being the self which one truly is.

To start,

Let's explore the concept of the self.

The self is made up of a unique combination of personality traits,

Strengths,

Weaknesses,

Values,

Beliefs and experiences.

It is the essence of who we are and is different for every individual.

However,

Due to societal pressures we might lose sight of our true selves and try to become someone we are not.

This can lead to feelings of disconnection,

Emptiness and unfulfillment.

So how do we reconnect with our true selves?

It starts with self-awareness.

Taking the time to reflect on our values,

Beliefs and experiences can help us understand who we are and what we stand for.

We can then align our actions and goals with our authentic selves,

Creating a sense of purpose and meaning in our lives.

For example,

Let's say you are a creative person who loves to paint.

But your family has always encouraged you to pursue a more practical career.

You might have suppressed your passion for painting to follow their expectations.

But deep down,

You know that painting brings you joy and fulfillment.

By reconnecting with your true self and embracing your creativity,

You can find ways to incorporate your passion into your career or life,

Leading to a more fulfilling and satisfying life.

Being the self which one truly is also means embracing one's weaknesses and imperfections.

No one is perfect and we all have flaws and shortcomings.

But instead of trying to hide them or change them to fit the mold,

We can learn to accept and love ourselves as we are.

When we acknowledge and embrace our imperfections,

We can use them as opportunities for growth and self-improvement.

For instance,

Let's say you struggle with social anxiety and it has held you back from pursuing your dream job or meeting new people.

Instead of trying to suppress or overcome your anxiety,

You can accept it as part of yourself and learn ways to manage it.

You can seek therapy or support groups,

Practice mindfulness techniques or find other methods that work for you.

By acknowledging and working with your anxiety,

You can transform it into a source of strength and resilience.

To conclude,

Being the self which one truly is means embracing our unique qualities,

Values and experiences and using them to create a fulfilling and purposeful life.

It means accepting our imperfections and weaknesses as opportunities for growth and self-improvement.

As a call to action,

I encourage each and every one of you to take some time to reflect on who you truly are and what brings you joy and fulfillment.

Identify any areas where you might be suppressing your true self and find ways to incorporate them into your life.

Practice self-compassion and love towards yourself,

Especially in moments of imperfection or failure.

Remember you are unique and worthy,

Just as you are.

Thank you for listening.

Namaste.
