Hello,

My name is Leah and welcome to this series on coming to the present.

This will be less of a meditation and more of an informational session as we will be covering some ways in which you can bring mindfulness into your everyday life.

Mindfulness is the act of being present and being aware that you are present.

It is the ability to hold awareness of the present moment without judgment or expectations.

Mindfulness can be experienced in several different forms including meditation,

Yoga,

And mindful walking.

However,

You can also be mindful during other activities as well including during a shower or bath,

Washing dishes,

Making a meal,

Or brushing your teeth,

Driving your car,

Or even drinking a hot beverage.

For example,

Being mindful while taking a shower would include being fully present and taking note of the temperature of the water,

The feeling of the water touching your skin,

And the texture of your soap and shampoo.

Choose one of these activities that you do every single day and make a commitment to being mindful of the experience each time you engage in that activity for at least a week.

It's okay if your mind wanders during your practice.

Simply notice that your mind has strayed and gently coax it back to the present moment.

Also take note of your mental state when you are present during these activities.

It is likely that you will have a happier experience when you are present than even when you are having positive wandering thoughts.

Hopefully this can jumpstart a mindfulness practice for you even if you only practice for three minutes once a day.

I recommend more,

But this is enough to actually change our brainwaves.

Thus,

I hope you will give it a try.

Thank you.
