This meditation is meant to help create space to relax for a brief period of time, like before a meeting, before taking an exam, etc. It's meant to help the listener pause to attend to the body and mind's need to rest for a moment. It's best used in a setting that is both safe and quiet.

Hello,

Welcome.

We're going to take a few minutes here to take a step back and relax.

We'll start by doing that in a seated,

Upright,

But relaxed position.

Drop your gaze or close your eyes,

Whichever is more comfortable to you,

And take a deep breath in,

Filling the lungs and the belly,

And then letting it all out.

Then allowing the breath to resume its natural pattern,

Whatever feels more comfortable to you.

Now,

Invite your body to relax.

You are worthy of rest.

Get yourself permission just to rest now.

And simply watch the breath like the waves of the ocean coming into the shore and then rolling back out.

Breathing in and going out.

Breathing in and breathing out.

Allowing the breath to come and go at its own pace.

Just observing the way you would the waves on a beach,

Just the scenery around,

Letting it be.

As you sit here breathing,

Take a moment to soften your brow,

Smooth the forehead,

And then move to the jaw,

Relaxing the jaw and dropping the shoulders.

Maybe if it helps,

Rolling them up and allowing them to fall.

See if you could just invite your body to relax,

To let go,

And just rest just for this moment.

Rest for the mind,

We're going to allow it to float freely with whatever it wants to do right now and allowing it to settle down at its own pace.

Letting the thoughts come and go as they please.

You have permission to be doing this right now.

You're completely worthy of this self-care.

Then bringing your attention back ever so gently to your breath.

There's no need to spend a lot of energy blocking these thoughts from coming.

We're just going to let them be and remind our body that we're sitting now.

Now we are relaxing.

Let any thoughts fade into the background.

Take this time to be still,

To be calm,

And to be at ease.

Still breathing,

Allowing it to come and go,

Rocking you gently.

Reminding the mind,

Reminding the body that we're sitting and relaxing for now.

Just watching the breath.

Now beginning to become reacquainted with your surroundings by opening the eyes,

Shifting in your seat,

Maybe stretching the arms or the legs,

Maybe the back,

And preparing to reengage with the day.

Having taken this time to rest the body,

To fuel the body,

And prepare it to take on whatever happens during this day.

Thank you.

Thank you for taking the time to care for yourself this way.

Thank you for meditating with me and enjoy the rest of your day.
