Hello,
This is a guided meditation from Lauren from Love Well.
Enjoy.
Then Jesus said,
Come to me,
All of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens,
And I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you.
Let me teach you because I am humble and gentle at heart,
And you will find rest for your souls.
Matthew 11 verses 28 through 29.
Weary,
Weary,
Weary.
This is America,
Ladies and gentlemen,
America that we always knew existed,
America that we never wanted to experience,
An America that has always ignored our well-being,
An America that proves it's not what they say,
But it's what they do that proves that it knows not how to love us.
But this,
This is our body,
And this temple is our responsibility to maintain its wellness.
In our time together,
Amidst the nation,
The country that is on fire,
The country that perpetuates injustices for Black folks,
Let's be intentional about our releasing,
Okay,
Releasing ourselves from the space that we currently find ourselves in mentally and emotionally,
That has been caused by the unjust,
The unrest,
And the uncertain times that we are living in.
For a moment,
Just concentrate on your breathing.
How does my body feel?
I want you to breathe in and out.
Release any negative thoughts and images that may come to mind.
Just let them pass.
Let's end this time untying ourselves from this America and diving into our well-being that gives us space to just breathe,
To be silent and to be still.
The chatter,
The noise,
The lies,
They add nothing to our lives at this moment.
We're taking control of being still and taking care of our bodies.
We will practice calming affirmations and moments of silence and stillness that invite into our space the harmonies that we need when we step outside the thresholds of our doors,
Of our homes,
Of our cars,
Wherever we may find ourselves in this very moment physically.
We are preparing ourselves mentally and emotionally and spiritually to exist in a world that continues to show that it does not love us.
And so we must actively fight to love ourselves in ways that balance us.
So find a position that is most comfortable to you.
Legs can be crossed,
You could be standing,
Whatever is comfortable to you.
And I want you to breathe in.
Release.
Do that three times.
And then once you are in a space to do so,
I want you to repeat this to yourself three times.
I am well.
I am well.
I am well.
And as we center ourselves around this affirmation of being well.
What are some ways that you can practice wellness today.
Come to me,
All who are weary and carry heavy burdens.
We are all carrying heavy burdens at this moment,
Whether directly or indirectly.
We are all there.
Upholding whatever may be on our shoulders.
May it be grief.
May it be this pandemic and unemployment.
May it be helping our children to learn from a space.
Not conducive for their social,
Physical and mental well being.
Or may it just be the burden of being black in America.
Whatever your burden may be today.
The scripture says,
Come to me,
All who are weary and carry heavy burdens.
And I will give you rest.
Rest is a way in which we resist the evils of this world.
The evils that tell us we have to work a certain amount of days and hours.
To live comfortably in this world.
Evil.
That tells us we have to be working three or four or five jobs just to put food on our table.
The evil of capitalism,
Lord.
We bring this to you in hopes that we can rest the injustices of our bodies,
Lord God,
Our humanity that is continuously ignored.
We bring this to you in hopes that we can rest.
These are the words and the tears of the weary.
So whatever your burden may be,
Spend this time right now in this space of meditation,
In this space of prayer,
In this space of stillness.
And let the Lord know what burden you carry today.
What has you weary?
Continuing to breathe in and breathe out,
Not forgetting to circulate air into your lungs and to release what no longer serves you.
Tell the Lord what burdens you today.
What does this mean for me?
And the control that I have over my life.
What decisions,
Lord,
Oh,
Lord,
Can I make today that takes me into that space of rest?
That takes me into that space of resistance that takes me into that space where my body,
My mind and my soul are well in this America.
Continuing to breathe in and out.
Let the Lord hear your concern.
Whenever you're ready.
At the conclusion of this meditation,
Write down ways in which you are going to prioritize being still,
Resting and being well.
