This is a short practice for people in pregnancy. It focuses on meditating while noticing the sensations of a baby in uterine. It's a great meditation to build the prenatal bond and to tune into the pregnancy.

Find a comfortable seat.

Feel your feet on the floor,

Your bottom resting in a chair.

Maybe even lower the gaze or close the eyes.

Take a few moments to tune into your breathing.

Just feeling the sensation of breathing,

The belly rising and falling.

Perhaps even place your hand or both hands over your belly.

And noticing here the sensation of being pregnant.

Notice in this moment any sensations.

Maybe the shape of your belly has changed.

Perhaps you're starting to feel movement of your baby.

There could even be a feeling of tiredness in the body,

A heaviness.

Or perhaps you feel energized and excited today.

As your hand rests on your belly,

Feeling both the movement of your breath under your hand and maybe even feeling the movement of your baby.

Just really gathering your awareness and focusing in on that sensation of breathing.

The sensation of the hand on the belly and of your baby resting within.

And when your mind begins to wander,

Just gently bring it back.

Bringing it back to the sensation of your hand on your belly.

Your hand essentially on your baby.

And if there's any movements of baby and noticing that.

You might notice certain thoughts or even feelings arise as you do this.

You might choose to simply notice them,

Allowing them to be just as they are.

And then gently escort your awareness back to breathing right at your belly.

And the sensation of your baby within.

Just practicing being with your baby.

Knowing that there's no need to try to control the breathing in any way.

Just simply allowing the breath to breathe itself.

Maybe even bringing this attitude of allowing to the rest of your experience.

Knowing that there's nothing to be fixed.

There's no particular state to be in.

As best you can,

Just allow your experience to be your experience without needing it to be anything other than what it is.

Maybe even bringing a quality of kindness into your awareness.

Perhaps even seeing the wanderings of your mind or the arising of emotion as an opportunity to bring patience and gentle curiosity to the experience of being pregnant right now.

Using your breath and your baby as an anchor.

From here you can release your hand and gently open your eyes.

Including this being with baby practice.

Wonderful short connection meditation. Really enjoyed that it wasn’t just for “very pregnant” ladies and felt inclusive to all stages. Thank you.
