Welcome to this gentle reminder where we connect as humans living under this blue sky and walking on this sacred earth.
As usual,
As you listen to this audio,
Please feel into your breath.
Feel into the air coming in and out of your body.
And feel your whole body.
As you listen to this audio just drop into presence,
Into whatever you sense and feel.
Today,
I want to remind us of something very simple,
Yet something that I,
We,
Often forget.
This is,
Life wants us available.
Available to respond to what is.
Available to meet what she places in front of us.
And the curious thing is that the more available we become,
The more life seems to love it and get excited about it and ask more of you.
So let me tell you where this reminder comes from.
I was creating this course for Insight Timer,
Which is now live and called From Overthinking to Presence.
As the name suggests,
It's about expanding our capacity to relate to life and be with life.
I had spent several days writing the course and listening back to the recordings.
While I was editing them,
All of a sudden,
My friend started texting me.
You Your cat's back.
I got her.
She's in the carrier.
Come get your cat.
Long story short,
My cat had been missing for four months.
I flew from Costa Rica to come look for her.
I did all I could to find her.
I walked many nights in the mountains looking for her,
And eventually I got the message,
Let her go.
It was devastating,
But I did let her go.
During those months,
My cat decided to live in the wild.
My dog also died.
Them both and this experience changed who I was.
And by that Monday that my friend started texting me,
I was sure I didn't want the responsibility of caring for another animal again.
But then,
Life has other plans.
So even though I didn't want to,
There I was,
Waiting for the bus to go pick up the cat.
Already running late,
My friend waiting for me in another bus stop with the cat.
On the carrier.
I could feel life nudging me from the edges,
Asking me to put into practice everything I had just spent days teaching and reviewing.
As I waited for the bus,
I found myself having to hold the intensity of it all.
The grief for my dog that came rushing back,
The anger that the cat had returned,
The why now I don't want to change my plans or who I I had become.
I was seated there waiting for the bus to leave with my anxiety,
My fear,
My sadness,
My frustration,
And my complete confusion about what was happening.
There was presence in the middle of all that intensity and that inconvenience I had with it all.
And then I remembered the course and thought about this reminder I am sharing.
Life keeps asking us to be able to meet what is.
And so here I am,
Typing this from my bed,
With this cat that feels like mine and not mine at the same time,
Sleeping on the bed as if nothing had happened,
While my mind keeps grabbing into stories and the grief for my dog.
Just life being life through these vessels we call you,
Me,
Cat,
Dog.
So thank you for joining this gentle reminder on life.
Sending many blessings to life moving through you.
