Welcome to your inner child healing guided meditation.

This practice will allow you to comfort,

Reassure,

And heal your inner child.

As you let go of emotions and heaviness that are associated with any negative childhood experience,

You will be able to recapture the innocence and joy of your childhood.

Begin by giving your body the permission to guide you into a place of comfort.

Settle into your space to spend some well-deserved time with yourself.

Relax your shoulders,

Hands,

And all of the muscles in your face.

Relax the space between your eyebrows.

Loosen your jaw.

Allow your tongue to drop from the roof of your mouth down.

And when you're ready,

Gently close your eyes.

Let's take a couple of deep breaths,

Breathing in through the nose and breathing out through your mouth.

Take a deep breath in through the nose and breathe out slowly through your mouth,

Getting any excess stale air that's no longer serving you out of your body.

With every new breath,

Allow all the tension to just melt away.

Even slower now.

Take another breath in,

Filling your lungs with air,

And exhale slowly and steadily,

Releasing completely.

Imagine the feeling of tension leaving your body and the sense of ease just relaxing all your muscles,

Gently allowing the breath to return to its natural state now,

Its soothing rhythm.

Just simply observe.

Notice how your belly rises on the inhale,

Comes to stillness,

And then falls back down again as you breathe out,

Noticing how the abdomen expands with the breath in and contracts with the breath out,

Allowing the breath to just flow freely,

Allow it to relax you.

Bringing you back into a place of stillness where you can be just yourself,

Be with your own mind,

With your thoughts and your body,

There's no rushing,

Just being with your breath,

Following the breath,

Observing the movements of your belly as the air flows through your nose and comes back out through your mouth,

Allowing any thoughts that come up to be acknowledged in a friendly non-judgmental manner.

Allow them to come in,

Take note,

And allow them to float away.

The inner child exists as the childlike aspect within your unconscious mind.

They are autonomous and hidden deep within us,

And this inner child reflects the child that we once were,

In both the positive and negative aspects.

Your inner child has always been creative,

Curious,

And playful,

With a true desire to belong,

And they may have some unmet needs or suppressed emotions.

The repressed emotions refer to all of the things you were taught as a child not to feel if you wanted to receive love,

Only being offered attention when being offered attention when you obeyed.

It's common for children,

And indeed many adults,

To contain their feelings and suffer in silence,

Not wishing to impose themselves upon others.

Constraints and limitations are important in order to understand boundaries and grow as a human being,

But when parents,

Teachers,

And society impose rules and standards to help socialize us into becoming functioning human beings,

It's almost inevitable that we will experience feelings of insecurity and inadequacy in our adult life.

Your inner child may still hold on to sadness,

Rejection,

Or shame that you've experienced,

And healing your inner child allows you to bring these feelings to the light of your consciousness so that you can find the root causes of challenges that you face as an adult.

So how may you know if your past trauma is affecting you right now?

Is your trauma connected to your inner child?

So if your inner child is suffering,

You may be experiencing anxiety,

You may not have a strong sense of identity,

You consider yourself as a people pleaser,

You experience feelings of inadequacy,

And you have a hard time forgiving.

All of us,

No matter how small or insignificant,

Have traumas from our past that need to be addressed and healed.

Inner child healing is the process of contacting,

Understanding,

And embracing your inner you.

Your inner child represents your first original self that entered into the world.

Your inner child contains your capacity to experience wonder,

Joy,

Innocence,

Sensitive,

And playfulness,

Curiosity.

And this reconnection allows you to access the wounded parts of yourself so that you can discover the root of your fears,

The root of your insecurities.

Healing your inner child will allow you to go right to the core of any of your problems and attend to them from a compassionate and loving space.

So now it's time to go back into your mind to begin to heal negative feelings and emotions that your inner child has suffered.

So begin to bring to mind yourself as a child.

Perhaps three or eight years of age,

Allow your mind to just wander gently back in time,

Shifting carefully through memories as though there's no such thing as time.

Sense yourself becoming smaller and younger.

It may feel as though you are swirling through a long dark tunnel or traveling over a bridge of time.

And now imagine as if you were watching a movie.

You're standing there in this house where you used to live.

Notice the home that you knew as a very young child.

Look around the room,

See the windows,

The table,

The door,

Perhaps some shelves or a cupboard.

See yourself as a small child.

What does your hair look like?

What are you wearing?

Perhaps you have a toy or your favorite game or book.

Maybe you're spending time with someone.

If so,

Notice this person and what is their relationship to you?

How do you feel?

Are you happy?

Are you fearful?

Are you nervous?

Are you excited?

Are you scared?

Are you joyful?

How are you feeling?

Identify a time when something bothered you,

But you had suppressed your feelings or emotions.

And as you watch your child self on the screen,

Know that during the whole of this experience,

The you that is in this here and now,

At the present moment in time,

Will not experience any distress as watching your inner child.

There will be feelings of calm and curiosity as you want to learn more and discover how to help them.

As you see yourself at the time when something might have really bothered you,

Perhaps you're experiencing strange feelings.

Please rest in this awareness.

You may be frightened,

You may be upset,

Or there may be other deep emotions,

But know that you are supported.

You are safe and you are okay.

I invite your adult self to go back and visit that young,

Innocent child.

See yourself stepping forward to meet your younger self.

Introduce yourself to your inner child.

Embrace them.

Listen to your inner child's concerns and tell them that you understand.

Tell them that you know that they've done their best.

Tell your inner child that from now on,

You will be there for them.

And in fact,

You've been there for them all along.

You will be there to calm and comfort,

Offer reassurance and guidance.

You will only allow safe,

Trustworthy people into your inner child's life and tell your inner child what you think they needed to hear.

Allow them to hear the words that they have been longing for and just connect to them in this beautiful and serene moment.

Say what you need to say to your inner child right now.

Now as you rest here peacefully with your inner child,

Feel the loving energy between you.

Listen gently without any judgment.

And if anything should start to bother you again in the future,

Whether it's in your dreams,

Your daydreams,

Your thoughts,

Know that you can go back inside and contact your inner child to find out exactly what the problem is.

Creating a beautiful harmony of joy,

Contentment,

Communication and peace.

Notice how you feel after approaching your inner child.

From now on,

You are reassured that everything will be okay.

Everything is working out for the best as your subconscious mind continues to protect you in a way that allows you to develop and grow to your full adult potential.

And before you say goodbye,

Agree upon a symbol of your inner child's freedom.

Something for the child to summon up whenever it feels the need to escape and be alone with their thoughts.

It could be a ladder,

A floating bubble,

Like a hot air balloon.

Anything,

Anything that comes to mind for you,

For your inner child,

So you can associate it with release and freedom.

And before we say goodbye,

I want you to look into your inner child's eyes and ask your inner child,

Is there anything you need from me right now?

Listen for an answer.

It's now time to say goodbye for now.

Kindly assure your inner child,

Younger you,

That you're going to come back and you're going to visit,

Just like your inner child can visit you.

And as you return to normal,

Awakening consciousness,

Bring back with you new learnings,

New possibilities,

And new avenues for you to explore.

As this practice draws to an end,

Gently begin to return to your surroundings.

Reach your arms up over your head,

Like a good morning stretch.

Turn your wrists,

Move your fingers,

Move your toes.

Nod your head yes and no.

When you're ready,

Open your eyes.

Remember that as an adult,

You have the ability to choose.

You can choose safety,

You can choose forgiveness,

You can choose healing,

Joy.

You can go throughout the rest of your day,

Your week,

Your month,

Your year,

Staying connected to your inner child,

Healing all along the way.

They're waiting for you right waiting for you right inside.

Namaste.

I’ve been going through a hard breakup. For some reason I felt like I needed answers to the way I was, the things I did. Why did I always put others over me? Why can’t I do things for myself? Why was I so scared to lose the people I loved to the point where it would push them away because of my insecurities? When I found the root of my abandonment issues I was aware of it. But I never did confront them. Recently learning about how ur inner child lives inside of you has made me realized how I am the way I am because that little me was just trying to protect themselves. This meditation made me visual me, look back at moments in my life that in the moment felt like nothing but the older I got the worse and more frequently those protective bubbles started to affect me. Thank you so much for this meditation as it made me cry mostly halfway through. And I’m blessed to be connected back with my inner child so me and him can work on these defensive mechanisms together. I felt so alone but now I got me and little me. Thank you so much 🫶

This is really is a special practice. I have been doing some inner child work with my Mindfulness supervisor and I am continually amazed how nourishing, supporting and protective this process is. Thank you.
