Hello,
My name is Laura and today I'll be guiding you through this yoga nidra practice.
If you aren't already,
You can bring yourself to a comfortable position lying on your back.
Use anything that you need to feel comfortable,
A bolster behind your knees,
A pillow underneath your head,
A blanket to keep you warm,
But maybe you keep your hands out from underneath the blanket so they're in the room temperature.
You might even cover your eyes with an eye pillow,
A scarf,
Or the sleeve of a shirt.
And if your eyes aren't already closed,
You can begin to close them now.
And as you settle onto your back,
Be aware of this transition to the ground.
Notice how your body widens into the support of the earth.
Feel your bones sinking into the ground.
Allow your fingers to curl in softly towards the palm of your hands.
And as you shift from a state of wakefulness into a state of rest,
Really notice that transition not just in your body,
But also in your mind.
And when you feel ready,
You can begin to shape seven deep breaths all the way down into your belly.
Let these breaths be deep,
Diaphragmatic,
And allow them to fill up your entire pelvic bowl like a balloon.
After your last exhale,
Breathe in deeply again,
All the way down to your belly.
And continue breathing up and under the ribs all the way up until you feel your collarbones lift and then hold.
Maybe at the top you even sip in a little bit more air and then hold.
Tone and squeeze your pelvic floor muscles so you feel a lifting sensation all the way up the spine to the crown of the head.
Keep holding the breath,
But whenever you feel ready,
You can sigh the breath out through parted lips.
We'll repeat this breath twice more,
So when you're ready,
We will begin again.
Breathe in fully,
And once you're full,
Squeeze and lift your pelvic floor muscles so you feel the whole spine lengthen all the way up through the crown of the head and notice any sensations in the midbrain.
And then when you're ready,
Let go of that breath with gently parted lips.
And we'll take one more round that's all in your own timing,
So whenever you're ready,
You can begin again.
Hold the breath at the top maybe a little bit longer than you think you might be able to,
And when you release this time,
Soften completely into the ground.
Let all effort dissolve,
Not just in how you hold your body physically,
But also around your breathing.
Allow your body to begin to breathe you the way it has throughout your entire life.
In today's practice,
We will be moving into a deep state of rest.
Some might say that it resembles sleep.
So allow your body to soften deeply towards this sleep-like state,
However,
It is the practice to keep your awareness online.
You might set a resolve now to remain awake and aware throughout the duration of this practice and allow your awareness to begin to settle right into the center of your heart.
You can notice the familiarity of its beating,
And maybe this beating allows you to remember that you can return here at any time.
Your heart was the very first organ that developed in your body,
And it will continue to animate your life all the way until your last breath.
It is in this space where we connect to the unique spark of our soul.
You can tune into the unique signature of your heart field right now.
It's okay if it feels closed or guarded.
Allow your awareness to settle here anyway,
And from the center of your heart you can call forth the feeling of unconditional love,
And let this love grow and expand beyond your ribcage until it fills your entire body as if it were a bulging container that's about to overflow.
And it's from this space where we begin the practice of yoga nidra.
You can begin to call forth your sankalpa now.
If this language is unfamiliar to you,
A sankalpa is an intention for your practice.
It is a concise affirmation that comes from your heart,
Not for material gain,
But for refining and redefining your personality,
Your belief systems,
Or maybe even the way that you interact with the world around you.
You can whisper your intention to yourself at least three times.
And if nothing comes to mind,
Feel free to use I am connected.
Begin to shift your awareness from your heart all the way up into your midbrain.
Notice the space that's right in between your ears,
A few inches back from your brow center.
This is the home of your pineal and pituitary glands.
You can ask them to activate now.
And just observe what happens with this request,
And then move your awareness back to your heart center.
Connect the midbrain and the heart center with a fine golden thread,
And then shift your awareness up again to your midbrain,
Stitching these two energy centers together with a golden thread that's as fine as silk.
Take a few moments establishing this connection from your heart to your mind's eye,
Sewing the two together with this beautiful golden awareness,
And then settle back into your heart to stay for just a moment.
And from your heart,
Bring your awareness into your right temple,
Connecting the two with this fine golden thread.
And from your right temple,
Come back to your heart.
This beautiful golden thread comes along with you and all of your awareness as you stitch your heart to your right cheek,
And then back again.
Move from your heart into your right shoulder,
And then back to the heart.
Move from your heart into the right side of your chest,
And then back again.
The right upper thigh,
And then back to the heart.
Your right ankle,
And then back to your heart.
Feel the whole right side of your body now,
Connected together by this fine golden thread.
And then begin to settle back into your heart,
And then bring this golden thread down through the left leg until you feel the left ankle,
And then return your awareness back to your heart.
Shift your awareness into the left upper thigh,
And then back to the heart.
Move your awareness to the left side of your chest,
And then back again to the heart.
The left shoulder,
And then back to the heart.
The left cheek,
And then back to the heart.
Feel your left temple,
And then settle back into your heart,
And then begin to feel the pathway between your heart and the midbrain again.
Feel the whole left side of your body,
Connected together by this fine golden thread.
Now begin to illuminate all of the points and golden pathways where your awareness has touched,
Until you can feel your whole body connected,
Like an ornate quilt that has been sewn together with the finest detail to attention.
Rest back into your heart.
Imagine your breath coming in through your heart,
As if you had nostrils here.
Imagine that you are breathing in and out from the center of your chest.
As you breathe in,
This love expands and fills your entire body,
And it might even feel like a warm golden liquid.
As your entire body is filled with this warm golden liquid,
You can connect to the positive residues from your life that might live inside of your heart.
Love,
Happiness,
Harmonious memories.
This warm golden liquid also begins to melt away anything that has hardened your heart over the years.
Bitterness,
Anger,
Unworthiness,
Loneliness.
With each breath,
Let this golden liquid that is pouring through you rinse away these feelings.
As you breathe out,
Let these things pour out of you,
This warm golden liquid alchemizing the experiences of your heart into gold.
As this golden liquid begins to settle,
Your awareness stays steady in your heart,
And then it follows this fine golden thread up to your midbrain again to rest.
Begin to call forth your inner child.
Connect to the feeling of innocence and naivety that only a child might experience.
Allow this part of you to come forward and express the joyful,
Playful,
And inquisitive nature of a child.
Now call forth your wise inner elder.
Connect to the feeling of being hardened by the outside world,
And allow yourself to discover and connect to the wisdom that one can only accumulate by moving through life.
Now let that go and return your awareness to your midbrain.
Allow your awareness to expand to fill your entire body until you feel whole,
And then settle back into your brow center.
Begin to see your body lying on the ground,
And start to separate your spiritual body from your physical body.
You can notice that the two are still connected through a gold cord,
A cord that shimmers like the stars of the cosmos,
That runs from navel to navel.
Your spiritual body is weightless.
You begin to shift higher and higher,
Away from your physical body down below,
And as you drift up into the cosmos,
You open your eyes,
And you notice a plasmic mirror in front of you.
And as you approach this mirror,
You begin to see yourself,
And you notice that you're looking into the eyes of yourself as a child,
And your inner child begins to share a message with you.
And you listen,
And you give your inner child a big,
Deep hug.
And when you pull away from the hug,
You find yourself looking into the eyes of yourself as an adolescent,
And this version of you also has a message for you.
And again,
You listen,
And once you've received that message,
You take this version of yourself into a cosmic hug,
And when you pull back,
You find yourself looking into the eyes of yourself as an adult.
This version of yourself has a different message for you.
And again,
You listen,
And after you've received that message,
You embrace yourself,
And you pull away,
And once more,
When you pull away,
You find yourself looking into the eyes of yourself,
But this time as an elder.
And once more,
There's a special message just for you,
In the current version of you now.
So you listen,
And then you give yourself a hug,
And from your heart,
You can feel this golden spark that connects all of these different versions of you,
Even though they're quite different now.
It might even resemble a golden thread that has woven the fabric of your life together like a quilt.
This spark has lived in your heart all along.
It's the piece of you that has remained constant throughout all of these different timelines and versions of yourself.
In this cosmic embrace,
All of these versions of you begin to blend into one,
Where only a pure,
Glowing,
Golden light remains.
This essence of your soul begins to gently float back to your physical body down below,
Until you're just a few inches above the current version of yourself,
And as this merging begins all times now,
You begin to settle again into the presence of your heart.
Allow this golden warmth to remain in the center of your chest,
And as you lie here,
You begin to hear your Sankalpa again.
Repeat it to yourself again,
Three times.
Become aware of the space that your body occupies.
Observe the connection between your body and the earth beneath you,
And begin to notice the subtleties of your body again.
Your breathing,
Your heartbeat,
Any sounds from the body.
The practice of Yoga Nidra is complete.
You can begin to call your awareness back to your body by finding small movements in the fingers and the toes,
Or deepening the breath,
And allow these movements to get bigger and bigger in their own time,
Until you eventually feel ready to roll to one side.
Maybe your eyes stay closed as you push yourself upright into a seated position.
Lengthen your spine up towards the sky,
And bring your hands to your heart.
You can bow your head to your heart and set an intention for the rest of the day ahead of you.
Thank you so much for practicing with me today.

11/9/24 morning. Thereβs a bell at the end. Connecting the heart and body parts with a golden thread. I liked picturing it as a spider web. Iβd like it all better without the music, which wasnβt terrible but mildly uncomfortable. Hugging older and younger versions of myself was nice.
