Hello,
And welcome to a guided affirmation session for runners.
Whether you have a goal that you want to meet,
Or a big race,
Or you simply want to learn to enjoy running more,
Or learn to relax,
This practice of affirmations and some visualization will help you get there.
Our running life can have deep meaning and purpose,
And it really influences all aspects of our body,
Mind,
And spirit,
And our relationships.
So let's do some affirmations that support that practice,
And let's explore together some present tense statements that can change our thinking or help to move us along,
To reframe,
To have a different mindset,
A mindset of growth,
And messages that we consciously and subconsciously tell ourselves or give ourselves.
They're so important.
As a coach of many years,
I notice how our mind plays a role in both our daily life and training and how we see ourselves as runners and how we see our running each day.
So our mind is meant to be our partner,
A way that we can partner with ourselves,
And the messages that play behind the scenes and help us to think about accomplishing and setbacks and overcoming when we face challenges.
So please consider these affirmations as positive messages that you can send to yourself,
Perhaps from the wisest part of yourself that kind of already knows this,
But is just waiting to be affirmed,
And sharing it with any part of you that needs affirmation or a little bit of extra support.
I suggest that you would use them daily or continue to repeat them as often as possible until they come naturally and instinctively,
And you can either repeat them or just listen to them or kind of say them to yourself silently.
You can do so out loud if you so desire,
But doing so either in the early morning or the late evening kind of helps to set that intention and keeps it more in your mind,
Helps you to retain it better.
Feel free to keep those that serve you,
As always,
That serve you best in disregard or just let them pass by,
The ones that just aren't a good fit or that don't serve you.
The first few at the very beginning is a message from me as a coach,
From my experience,
What has helped athletes the most,
Giving you a few affirming words from my heart.
And then the rest is a journey together where you just say things honestly to yourself and you try to use an I-phrase so that you take them to heart,
And you'll be able to recognize those sections clearly.
There will be a little background music.
So let's get started and,
Of course,
Find a place where you can relax and welcome to close your eyes or just kind of take in some nature around you as you listen.
I want to begin by telling you that I believe in you.
I know you can do whatever you set your mind to and that over time,
The body,
The mind,
And the spirit can learn anything and can move in unison together.
We are in this together,
You and I and any teammates that you have.
This is a journey we take together.
You are supported and you are known and you are worth it.
You are worth this time and I'm proud of your effort.
I'm proud of your accomplishments thus far.
Just starting is the hardest part and these affirmations will get easier and easier until they come to you naturally with very little effort.
I'm here just to lend a hand as a helping guide and together we're growing stronger each day.
You and I,
Both an important part of the running community,
We strive,
We push each other together and what we do matters.
We bring each other joy and you bring all of us joy just by putting forth your courageous effort in your unique way,
The best way you can.
It's right and good to uplift one another and to support one another through practices like this and of course through running together.
Running is only the beginning.
All of these lessons are parallels to life and many things that we accomplish in our lives.
Now you're invited to simply listen,
Sit back,
Repeat the affirmations,
Let them enter into the heart space and the mind and again affirming those things that are already speaking from the wisest part of yourself.
Now you're invited to listen to and repeat these guided affirmations.
I know that I am here for a purpose.
Therefore I run with positive intention and purpose.
I'm worthy of good things.
I partner with and listen to my body.
I learn and grow from every session,
Every training,
Every movement.
As I run,
I allow my doubts to fade away.
I welcome new perspectives that help me grow.
Each day gives me an opportunity to try something new.
Among friends,
Running mates,
I create healthy and supportive relationships.
Each day I seek out and foster and praise the best in myself and others around me.
Each day I seek out,
Foster and praise the best in others and in myself.
I am becoming more and more aware of what I do well.
I can easily see where I've grown and changed for the better.
I am becoming more and more aware of what I do well.
And as I run,
I allow my doubts and worries to fade away and welcome new perspective and growth that running presents.
I know that worries and fears will arise.
I know that I'm growing more and more comfortable and safe in my own skin and understanding that these warning signs are just signs to be present,
To notice what's going on around me and I can overcome any obstacle that comes my way.
I can overcome any obstacle that comes my way.
Each day is a new beginning and opportunity and each day I understand myself and my body more and more.
As each day is an opportunity,
I understand myself more.
In fact,
I have survived and learned from many challenges.
So I do what I need to do and the difficult things,
I accomplish them through hard work.
I accomplish the most challenging things through hard work and persistence.
And each day I feel more confident as I face setbacks and challenges and I see that I have overcome them.
Reflecting back on all the mistakes of the past or all the challenges of the past,
I see them as what they were,
As opportunities for growth.
And as I learn,
I share that benefit with my fellows,
With other runners,
With others in my life and my presence in this sport benefits others.
My presence here benefits and encourages others in ways that I do not yet fully understand.
But it does.
Each day I show up,
My presence benefits not only me,
But others as well.
In each moment,
I am shaping my life and my future for the better.
As I run,
As I train,
I stretch,
I move my body and even as I prepare mentally,
I am grateful for whatever my body and my mind have been able to do to accomplish together and all those things that I have yet to accomplish.
I am grateful for whatever my body and mind allow me to do and all those things that are yet to do.
And I allow my body and my spirit to express themselves through movement,
Through my running,
My walking,
My movement.
I am not defined by my success or failures,
But by the quality of my life and my practice.
I am defined by the choices that I make,
My attitude and my actions.
I am only defined by the choices I make,
My attitude and my actions.
And day by day,
I learn this lesson as I love my body and embrace its changes.
I take good care of it and nourish it in a loving and supportive way.
Day by day,
I embrace my body's changes and I take good care of myself,
Nourishing in a loving and supportive way.
In addition,
I take time to rest and recharge my body.
I care for it as I know the support it gives me.
I take time to rest and recharge.
And I am strong and powerful and capable.
What I am right here and right now,
I am grateful for.
I embrace my strengths with gratitude.
And I am strong and powerful and capable.
As each day,
I draw upon my endurance,
My experience and my skills in any challenging situation.
And I embrace my strengths with gratitude.
Finally,
I am healthy and whole,
Just as I am.
I am healthy and whole.
Balance is my natural state.
In my daily life and in training,
Balance is my natural state.
I recognize perfection as an illusion,
But balance is always achievable.
I have only myself to compare to or partner with or grow,
And I can share that partnership of balance and growth with others around me.
I recognize perfection as an illusion.
I seek instead balance.
And to do my best,
I am healthy and whole,
Just as I am.
I accept today as a present of unbounded opportunity.
And I work towards my goals that help me become more fully me.
I work towards goals that help me become the person I am meant to be.
And I know I already have all the tools I need to reach them.
I already have all the tools I need to reach the goals inside of me.
And each day,
I become more and more the person and the runner I am called to be.
Each day,
I become more and more of the person and the runner I'm called to be as I create positive change from within.
And running is only the beginning.
I'm growing in confidence,
In hope,
And in joy in all I do.
As reflected in my running practice,
I'm growing in confidence,
Joy,
And hope in all I do.
And lastly,
I believe in myself.
I believe in myself and I'm ready to face this journey with courage and determination.
I'm ready to face this journey with courage and determination.
I love and appreciate who I am and who I am becoming.
I love and appreciate who I am and who I am becoming.
