So we'll just do 21 breaths for Samhita.
Eyes gazing downward,
Mouth slightly open and we're breathing through our mouths because we've just cleared those channels.
We want everything to remain settled in the channels.
We want everything to remain settled in the channels.
And as we're focusing our awareness on breath,
The breathing process,
Thoughts will come and go.
They'll pass through and pass away.
We can register them without having to do anything about them.
Sometimes,
We'll get.
.
.
.
.
.
Fascinated by a thought,
Caught up in it.
And then we're off making a movie,
Following that thought with more thoughts.
And we're in the movie.
And then we have that,
Oh yeah,
I was meditating moment.
Good.
We were aware.
And so we get to settle back into Samhita.
A lovely fresh moment of Samhita.
Now,
We'll shift gears to Donglin.
First,
For ourselves,
For a time,
Perhaps even these days,
That would be the best when we've been projected on.
And we don't want ourselves to suffer from that particular kind of suffering.
And so we breathe for ourselves,
Tucking our small suffering selves inside our hearts.
We breathe in the dense,
Heavy clouds of suffering.
And on the exhale,
The spacious,
Glowing clouds that soak into that suffering one.
Then we think of somebody we know and care about,
Who has suffered so much suffering.
Some similar kind of suffering.
And we breathe for them.
We don't want them to suffer.
We want them to be happy,
Ultimately happy,
Always.
So we breathe those clouds of suffering in.
And breathe out the billowing,
Spacious clouds,
The bright clouds that soak into them.
We see their face change to a smile.
And now we think of everyone in this room who we know has suffered from projection as well.
We breathe for everyone in this room.
We don't want them to suffer.
We want them to be ultimately happy,
Always.
Now imagine somebody you've projected on.
You don't want them to have this kind of suffering.
You want them to be happy,
Always.
And so you take in their suffering.
And exhale,
Filling them with the billowing clouds of bright happiness.
You might think of more than one person.
Breathe for them,
Too.
Breathe for them.
And now we think of all the people all over the world who have been projected on and who have suffered for it.
And now we think of all the people who have suffered for it.
Some people have been jailed or tortured or killed because of their demographic.
We breathe for them,
Too.
Then we might think of somebody who has caused us difficulty.
We can be pretty sure that they have also experienced the suffering of being projected on,
Being unpersoned,
Unseen.
They want to be happy.
They don't want to suffer.
They want to be seen.
We breathe for them,
Just breathing in their suffering.
That's all we have to do.
And to exhale happiness,
The clouds of happiness for them.
Breathe for them.
And we shift gears again to shamatha,
This time focusing on the space just down below in front of us.
Schrming says even more is not enough.
.
This is a little bit tricky.
Your mind might wander a bit more without having a more tangible support.
And you just do what you've been doing.
Those cycles of forgetting and remembering.
Padding the little inner puppy for remembering and noticing.
And then coming back to shamatha.
Maybe there are times when you can see the thoughts parading by.
And you don't always have to follow them.
How freeing.
