Meditation For Acceptance
by Beth Sharp
Acceptance can be one of the hardest things for us to face, whether it be of ourselves, of other people, or where we are in our lives. But acceptance is also the most important thing to enable us to grow and make transformational changes in our lives because with deep acceptance we can begin to approach things from a place of peace, self-compassion, and love. In this meditation, Beth guides you through finding acceptance for yourself and the challenges that life often presents to us.

Hello and welcome.
My name is Beth and it's an honor to be guiding you today for this 30-minute acceptance meditation.
And firstly just taking this opportunity to turn off any sounds from your devices.
And then I invite you to get really nice and comfortable in an upright but supportive position perhaps placing the pillow behind your back.
Just gently closing down the eyes and just beginning to notice the natural rhythm of the breath.
And knowing that during this meditation there really is nowhere that you're trying to get to and no state that you're trying to achieve.
And if at any point you wish to move or stretch,
Lie down,
Just doing exactly that and accepting whatever your body needs to do.
And just beginning to deepen the breath with a couple of big inhales through the nose and sighing it out through the mouth and accepting however the day or the week has been so far.
Accepting however you are feeling right in this moment and being thankful to yourself for taking this time for you,
For prioritizing your health and your well-being.
Starting to notice the sensation of air passing through your nose,
Moving down into your diaphragm,
Noticing the rising and the falling of the belly on each inhale and exhale.
Whilst you do this,
Just familiarizing yourself with the process of effortless meditation,
Where we are gently resting our awareness on an anchor which is currently the breath.
Our minds will then begin to roam with thoughts,
Feelings or sensations which is a completely normal,
Natural and important part of the meditation process.
And then whenever we happen to realize that our mind has wandered without judgment,
Just effortlessly returning to our anchor point whenever you feel ready to do so.
Now just scanning down your body,
Starting from the top of the head and as you scan,
Breathing in an acceptance of each part of your body exactly as you find it and on each exhale,
Just releasing any tension or judgments you may be holding,
Moving down the forehead,
The cheeks and the jaw and allowing them to sink down,
The shoulders,
Arms,
The hands,
And fingers,
Just releasing any tension or judgments on your exhale,
Moving down the chest,
The upper back,
The belly,
The lower back,
The pelvis,
Glutes,
Thighs,
The shoulders,
The thighs,
Calves,
The feet and toes.
Remembering whenever you happen to realize that your mind has wandered in your own time,
Gently guiding it back to our anchor which is currently our body.
Now just scanning your body as a whole and with a big deep breath,
Accepting and appreciating every single part of your body as unique and beautiful.
And I'd now like to take you on a journey through nature,
Imagining that you are wandering down a long,
Straight,
Wide path.
It is a beautiful autumn morning,
The air is crisp and the sun is slowly rising through the clear blue sky.
The path is lined with tall pine trees,
Their sweet scent reaching your nose as you inhale the fresh air and you can feel their needles crunching beneath your feet with each step you take.
You stop as you reach a fork in the path,
The two paths that lay ahead are leading in different directions,
Their landscape and destination are unknown.
The surroundings then become dark as the sky is filled with ominous clouds.
And at this moment you notice a small,
Bright,
White light in the distance along one of the paths.
The light is beautiful as it glistens and reaches you with its positive energy.
The light fills you with the courage to choose this particular path,
To accept the unknown and to trust that the light will get you where you need to be.
And as you are walking towards the light,
You begin to feel soft speckles of rain on your cheeks.
And as you look up,
The sky becomes darker,
The rain begins to fall heavily and the pathway becomes difficult to see.
But still,
You can see the light at the end of the path and it fills you with the hope that the rain and the darkness is only temporary and will pass.
And as you get closer to the light,
You notice that it is emanating from a figure.
The rain then begins to stop,
The clouds start to disperse,
The sun once again filtering through the trees and radiating onto your skin.
And as you approach the figure in the light,
You feel a deep sense of gratitude for its guidance.
You stop to stand opposite the light and you realise that the figure is you.
You were the beautiful light.
You had the inner knowing to deeply trust and accept this journey all along.
And as you stand at the top of the path,
You look back to see that it has flourished with vibrant wildflowers and luscious tall green grass.
You smile as you are filled with the knowledge that despite this difficult journey,
You have taken the exact path that you were meant to take and have arrived exactly where you are meant to be at this moment in your life.
You take in a deep cleansing breath and are filled with a deep sense of peace and joy that comes with this acceptance of your journey and who you are.
And from this place of acceptance,
Just embodying this sense of inner peace and joy however it looks or feels for you.
Perhaps a calmness,
Tranquility,
A lightness,
A love and just allowing this to encompass your entire body and mind.
And taking this feeling of inner peace and joy and expanding it out to your entire house,
Imagining this feeling,
Embodying the people in your house.
And then expanding this inner peace and joy to your whole street,
Imagining every person on your street feeling this sense of inner peace and joy.
Pouring out to your suburb,
Every human and animal embodying and emanating this same feeling.
Allowing it to spread to your city and expanding out to your whole country.
The entire planet,
All the countries,
Oceans and animals on this planet experiencing this inner peace and joy.
To our whole solar system,
Planets,
Their moons and the sun.
And to the universe,
Everything and everyone in our universe embodying this feeling of inner peace and joy.
Now zooming back from our universe,
Our solar system,
Our planet,
Your country,
Your city,
Your suburb,
Your street,
Your house and you.
Now noticing where you feel this sense of inner peace and joy strongest in your body,
Perhaps in your heart,
Your head,
Belly or in your hands.
And I invite you now to very gently rest your awareness on this sense of inner peace and joy in your body.
And whenever you happen to realise that your mind has drifted away from this feeling,
Just gently guiding your awareness back to that feeling of inner peace and joy deep within you.
Amen.
You you drifting away and drifting back drifting away and drifting back nowhere to get to no state to achieve just a simple effortless process no no no no no you are not your thoughts your thoughts are simply passing through you you are not your emotions your emotions are too passing through you you are the calm kind and content being deep inside you and I welcome you now to let go of this feeling or sense in your body releasing it as your anchor simply resting for the last few moments whilst you allow the effects of the meditation to slowly sink in nothing to do here but rest and I will tell you when it's time you slowly starting to deepen the breath welcoming soft movement to your body wheeling the toes and fingers stretching the arms and legs just taking a moment now to appreciate how you're feeling perhaps a little more relaxed calm and clear when you first sat down and if you wish repeating after me I will live each day with total acceptance of myself of others and of this journey of life I will live each day with total acceptance of myself of others and of this journey of life and setting an intention to carry this affirmation into your daily life so that we can begin to make transformational changes for ourselves and others around us to live our lives in the healthiest and happiest possible way that we can please take your time just opening the eyes is the very last thing you do thank you so much for letting me be your guide today and for sharing your time with me
