Music Finding a comfortable position.

This might be sitting on the ground on a cushion.

It might be sitting in a chair with your arms rested on your lap.

It might be laying down.

Feeling free to be very comfortable for this meditation.

And gently closing your eyes either fully or partially.

And putting a hand over your heart.

To remind yourself to bring not just awareness but loving awareness to yourself and to your experience.

And now imagining yourself in a place that is very comfortable for you.

Where you feel very content.

A place all to yourself.

This might be an actual place.

A place in real life where you feel very comfortable.

Maybe a cozy chair by an open fire.

Maybe a beach with the warm sand between your toes.

Maybe by a creek or a brook with trees all around.

The gurgling water running past you.

It might be an imaginary place.

Simply a place where you know you would feel very comfortable.

And allowing yourself to enjoy what it feels like to be in this special place.

And soon you will receive a visitor to your special place.

Now this visitor is a very wise and compassionate friend.

And this is someone who knows you well.

This visitor might be a spiritual figure.

It might be a warm and compassionate and wise teacher that you know.

Maybe a relative whose wisdom and compassion always made you feel accepted.

Or this wise and compassionate friend may not have a particular form.

Maybe you can simply imagine what it feels like to be in the presence of wisdom and compassion.

This friend cares deeply for you and really wants you to be happy.

This friend is also very wise,

Very compassionate,

Non-judgmental.

And allowing yourself to feel what it's like to be in the presence of this friend.

In the presence of this wisdom,

Compassion and lack of judgment.

This compassionate friend cares deeply for you.

This friend is very wise,

Very kind,

Very compassionate and completely non-judgmental.

Allow yourself to feel what it's like to be in the presence of this being.

What it feels like to be completely accepted.

You have the choice to go out from your special place to greet your friend.

Or else to invite them in to your comfortable space.

You have time now to greet your friend.

You have to be placing yourself at just the right distance and in just the right place in reference to your friend.

If your friend is someone you feel very close to,

You might get very close to them.

You might even rest your head on their shoulder or hold their hand.

Or if this figure is someone you might need to hold a respectful distance from,

Then find that place.

Position yourself wherever is comfortable in relation to your friend.

There's nothing you need to do right now except enjoy being with this person,

With this being.

Enjoy being in the presence of this kindness,

Of this wisdom.

Your compassionate friend is very wise and they know you very well.

Your compassionate friend would like to tell you something.

And this thing is exactly what you need to hear right now in your life.

Listen.

Wait to see if any words come.

And if they don't,

It's okay.

And perhaps there's something you would like to say to your compassionate friend.

Your friend listens very deeply.

They care for you very much.

Is there something you would like to say to them?

And soon your friend will be leaving again.

But before they do,

They would like to give you something,

A material object.

In your mind,

You can put your hands in front of you and wait to see what they give you.

Or maybe an object simply appears in your hands.

Have a look at this object.

What is it?

There's no need to search for meaning in the object.

Simply enjoy this as a gift from your compassionate friend.

And now enjoying your friend's presence for a few last moments.

And when you're ready,

You can say goodbye to your friend.

And so now you're alone in your comfortable place.

Take a moment to reflect on what just happened.

On the words that were exchanged.

The object that was given.

If there were words and if there was an object.

If none of these things came,

It's okay.

Simply being in the presence of this wise,

Compassionate being is a blessing in itself.

And as this meditation comes to a close,

Knowing that your compassionate friend is a part of you.

Your compassionate friend is with you always.

You are this wise,

Compassionate being for yourself.

And when you're ready,

Gently opening your eyes.

And moving gently and slowly into your day.
