Welcome to Wonder Bowl.

Today we're going to do our quick mindfulness with a hot drink.

Have you got one?

Pause if you need some more time to get sorted.

Okay,

Start by wrapping your hands around your drink.

Feel the warmth of the cup and the texture of the surface.

What else can you notice?

Look for all the little details,

Like you're investigating this cuppa for the very first time.

Okay,

Now the smell.

Bring it up close to your nose and breathe in.

Observe the smell and also what happens in your body.

Do you feel a bit of anticipation,

A hint of joy?

Observe your feelings and how they come to life in your body.

Now a sip.

Notice your lips on the cup,

The warmth of the drink in your mouth,

The texture of the liquid and the flavor.

Notice how it feels going down your throat and notice how your mouth feels and tastes after this first sip.

Simple eh?

But we rarely take the time to slow down and notice these things.

Too often we eat and drink mindlessly.

Not today.

Have another sip,

Paying close attention.

Now we're going to throw in a bit of gratitude,

Which releases powerful feel-good chemicals,

Dopamine and serotonin in the brain.

This has shown gratitude meditations can decrease depression.

So let's think about each of the ingredients in this drink,

Where they've come from and what people have been involved in bringing them here to be part of your drink.

Think of the main ingredient.

Where did it come from?

How many people had to be involved to get it from there to here?

Farmers,

Pickers,

Processors,

Transporters.

Take a second to thank each of them.

Are there other ingredients that you could do the same with?

Thank you.

Amazing how much mindfulness you can pack into a simple tea break eh?

Nice work.

Thanks for being here.

I’ve always tried to explain how sitting with a warm beverage every morning is a meditation in itself. Thanks!! ☕️ ☀️ 🫖
