This meditation is intended to help you slow down in a moment of overwhelm,

Which I don't think is uncommon for many of us.

So how fortunate that we have the tools of yoga.

Let's get started.

You don't need anything except for a comfortable seat or a position laying down.

So make sure you are comfortable and in a place where you can either close the eyes or soften the gaze.

Let's start off with several rounds of breath.

Allow a full inhale through the nose and a full exhale out.

And again,

Slow it down.

Full inhale.

Full exhale.

In through nose.

And back out.

Keep this steadiness and this pacing of breath for a couple more rounds on your own.

And notice in this steady breathing that there's not a huge rush.

There's not this need to accomplish anything.

There's not a huge rush.

There's not a huge rush.

So you can't accomplish or finish the inhales and the exhales any faster than you already are breathing.

I know in moments of overwhelm,

Whether it's a miscommunication with a friend or something that happens at work or whatever it may be,

I get this feeling that I need to fix it or finish it or do it as fast as I possibly can.

And that's not always the case.

Sure,

Timeliness and promptness is appreciated and valued,

But I don't think at the sacrifice or at the detriment of the quality.

And so what good is the breath if I'm rushing through it?

It doesn't feel nearly as supportive and spacious.

So stay with the steady breath in through the nose and back out.

Allow the inhales in their own time and enjoy the exhales as they come.

So in the same way that we appreciate and engage in the breath,

One at a time,

One inhale at a time,

One exhale at a time,

We can also find that same approach to whatever it is that needs to be taken care of outside of this meditation.

So how wonderful that you recognized your own need to pause,

Slow down,

And take care of you before getting to all of those other things.

They can wait another five minutes.

Let's finish with three full rounds of breath.

So you can let's finish with three full rounds of breath together.

Steady inhale,

Fill up to the top.

Steady exhale,

Enjoy softening back down to the bottom.

Full inhale,

Feel the chest,

The ribs expand.

Full exhale,

Feel the ribcage soften.

One more full inhale.

Full exhale.

Thank you movers.

Thank yourself for recognizing the need to pause and step away and take care of your own needs.

When you take care of yourself,

You become so much more available to serve others in a way that's present and authentic.

So do what you need to do and that absolutely includes taking care of you.

Have a beautiful rest of your day and namaste.
