Have endless emails got you feeling overwhelmed?

Hi I'm Katie and I'm here to share a set of tools to reset your nervous system while you're working.

When we feel overwhelmed with work our bodies tend to move into our sympathetic nervous system also known as fight-or-flight mode.

Our heart rate increases as our body prepares us for danger but in the face of daily work pressures a more balanced regulated nervous system can enable us to be present and feel calm.

We can shift ourselves into our rest and digest state through simple breath awareness.

So I invite you to straighten your spine,

Close down your eyes or keep a gentle gaze and turn your attention to your breath bringing your internal awareness to your nostrils.

Just noticing each inhale,

Each exhale without judgment,

Without changing anything.

Just observing your natural rhythm,

Is it fast,

Slow,

Deep,

Shallow?

If your jaw is clenched release it,

Perhaps you need to unfurrow your eyebrows,

Feel your stomach expand,

Your lungs fill,

Your chest take up more space on the inhale,

Deflate on the exhale.

Simply take a few minutes to focus on your breath,

Your life force energy and once you feel a sense of calm and balance you can open your eyes and tackle those emails with ease.

I hope this has helped soothe your nervous system today.
