On a really busy day,

It can seem like there's just no time for mindfulness or slowing down.

But could you take just five minutes?

Probably you can find that much time,

Even on a busy day.

And you'll be amazed what a difference it can make.

First,

Do a little stretch,

A little movement that satisfies whatever urge your body has at this moment.

The movement can be smooth or more staccato.

You can twist or sway or bounce.

You might even want to try a little bit of self-massage,

Gently applying pressure to any areas of the body that need a little attention.

Then notice your breath.

And invite the breath to move in the way that feels most satisfying to you right now.

Whatever position you're in,

Standing,

Sitting,

Lying down,

Even moving,

Savor the breath as this beautiful window into mindfulness in an embodied way.

There's no right or wrong way to do this.

The doing it is the thing.

Feel your body as you breathe.

Notice smaller or bigger movements that want to be made.

Open yourself up to the possibilities your body holds right now.

Seeing this as your own internal wisdom,

Your own way of knowing your needs and meeting them.

Engage with your senses.

Whether eyes are open or closed,

See or visualize your space and you in relationship to the space you're in.

Listen to any sounds,

Near or far.

Notice the sound of my voice.

Any sounds you notice in your own body,

Your breath,

A gurgling in your belly.

If you have an urge to sigh,

Notice that sound.

Sense the breath coming in and out through your nose.

Feel the contact your body is making with the floor.

And even sense inside your mouth,

Relaxing your tongue,

Relaxing your jaw.

Feeling fully alive in all of your senses.

Take a few more breaths on this busy day.

When your mind wanders,

Gently nudge it back.

Only a little bit longer to give yourself this break or rather a reconnection.

Notice how it felt to take just five minutes for you to reconnect on a variety of levels.

It didn't take long,

But what did it do?

Thank you for practicing and know that you can do this anytime you need it in just a few minutes.
