Come into a position where you feel both comfortable and alert.

You could be lying down in a reclined position,

Sitting upright,

Or perhaps you have your legs up the wall in an inversion.

Try not to get caught up in what you think a meditation pose should look like,

But allow your body to lead you into the right shape.

As you settle in,

Close your eyes or soften your gaze,

Beginning to take this journey inward.

Start with taking a few deep,

Slow breaths in through the nose and out through the nose.

Can you feel your body relax a little more with each exhale?

Imagine that you're standing in front of a door.

This is the door to your safe space.

You know that behind this door is a place where you can feel completely safe,

Secure,

And at peace.

Take a moment to visualize the door in your mind's eye.

What does it look like?

Is it big or small?

Plain or ornate?

Notice any details that stand out to you.

Now imagine that you reach out and turn the door knob.

You push the door open and you step inside your safe space.

As you step inside,

You feel a sense of calm and peace wash over you.

You look around and notice that you're in a room that feels warm,

Welcoming,

And safe.

Take a moment to explore the room with your senses.

What do you see?

What do you hear?

What do you smell?

And how do you feel?

Notice any details that stand out to you.

Perhaps you see soft lighting and comfortable furniture.

Or maybe you hear calming music or the sound of a bubbling fountain.

Perhaps you smell the scent of lavender or fresh flowers.

Or maybe you can feel the warmth of the sun on your skin.

As you continue to explore your safe space,

Notice how you feel.

Are you relaxed,

Calm,

At peace?

Do you feel safe,

Secure,

And protected?

Take a moment to bask in these feelings and allow them to permeate your being.

Allow yourself to feel completely at ease.

Allow the visualization to fade into the background as we go deeper by considering the yogic concept of Pitta.

According to Ayurveda,

The five natural elements,

Ether,

Air,

Fire,

Water,

And earth,

Are present in your mind and body in the form of doshas.

Vata,

Which is ether or air,

Pitta,

Which is fire and water,

And Kapha,

Which is water and earth.

These elemental energies influence everything from your physical shape and digestion to the way you process your thoughts and emotions.

Pitta represents fire and water and is powerful,

Strong-willed,

And feisty.

Fire and water are the two most powerful elements that can create and destroy anything.

A balanced Pitta can mean that you are setting goals for yourself and focused on the task at hand.

An unbalanced Pitta may indicate your fire has depleted.

Perhaps you have focused too much on the next step and have let go of the big picture.

As you turn your focus inward,

Ask yourself,

Am I focused on the right things?

Sit with this question,

Without trying to analyze or think,

Just pay attention to anything that comes up,

Big or small,

As messages are often very subtle.

Am I focused on the right things?

Even though our deep listening question was inspired by yogic concepts,

You don't need to believe in Ayurveda for that question to have been valid.

The point of this practice is to hear and listen to your inner wisdom.

And as you practice,

You might start getting a sense or a feeling of what your inner wisdom is trying to tell you.

Or you may start knowing what your inner wisdom is trying to tell you.

Maybe you didn't get anything,

Or sometimes things come up later.

For this,

There is no wrong experience.

Take a few breaths to process whatever came up for you.

Listen to the following affirmation allowing it to resonate deep within.

I am capable of identifying what truly matters.

I am capable of identifying what truly matters.

As we reach the end of today's practice,

Bring the palms together at heart center,

Slightly bowing your head.

Take a moment to reflect on your experience.

Were you able to connect with your inner wisdom?

Did you practice listening and being open?

Allowing this experience and any insights that you have gained to stay with you.

Bring your awareness back to your physical surroundings.

Take your time and when you are ready,

Open your eyes and allow your body any gentle movement that it needs.
