Hi,

I'm Kelly Kaye,

A coach and meditation teacher,

And I am so happy you are here today.

I wanted to give you this important talk today about a common misconception I see when people begin to meditate.

I find that this misconception can easily discourage someone who is trying to adopt a practice of meditation,

And really leaving them missing out on the profound benefits of a regular meditation practice.

Many people come to meditation wanting it as a tool for relaxation with the expectation of immediate peace and tranquility.

This misconception can stem from the common idea of meditation as a quick fix solution for stress and anxiety.

Now,

Meditation does provide a quiet,

Safe space to dial down that chatter of your conscious mind.

But sometimes,

Without the daily distractions of life,

You can often find yourself being met with many different emotions that have not fully been processed,

Feelings like sadness,

Anger,

And anxiety.

The reality is that meditation involves allowing whatever is present in the moment,

Which can sometimes include unresolved emotions,

Persistent thoughts,

And sometimes some uncomfortable feelings.

One of the primary reasons meditation can feel challenging is that it provides the space for these concealed emotions and thoughts to really bubble up to the surface.

By making you aware of these hidden emotions,

Meditation initiates the first step towards healing by offering a sturdy bridge between the elements of your conscious and subconscious mind.

To understand the interaction between these two parts of your mind,

Think of your mind like an iceberg floating in the middle of the ocean.

The tip of the iceberg,

What you can see,

Represents the conscious mind.

But like an iceberg,

The most important part,

The subconscious mind,

Is hiding right below the surface or below the level of conscious awareness.

Meditation serves as a powerful tool in exploring a direct path to accessing what is lying below the surface of the subconscious mind,

Making the unconscious conscious.

Meditation can offer you a path between the elements of your conscious and subconscious mind.

It can develop into a unique sanctuary for hidden wounds to surface and begin healing.

Encountering these intense motions during meditation can occur because you are really penetrating that barrier between the conscious and the subconscious.

When you meditate,

You are entering a quiet space without that usual noise and distraction that we are so accustomed to in our busy lives.

This silence can allow deeper,

Often less comfortable feelings to emerge.

As you achieve deeper levels of relaxation and focus,

You may find that memories and long-buried emotions will come to your awareness with valuable insights into your inner world.

This state allows thoughts and feelings that have been stored in the subconscious to surface.

It's crucial to remember these are not new emotions and they weren't created by meditating.

They have just been lying doormat waiting for a safe opportunity to surface.

When these emotions do arise,

It's crucial to observe them without fear of judgment.

This nonjudgmental observation allows you to explore your subconscious mind's content without immediately reacting or becoming overwhelmed.

This gentle approach can lead to a deeper understanding and self-acceptance.

This practice is pivotal because it shifts our relationship with our feelings.

Instead of fighting or fearing them,

We learn to acknowledge their presence and understand their true nature.

Meditation provides a secure place free from judgment where these emotions can arise safely.

It's like providing a room where the mind can freely express all that has been unspoken or hidden away.

Here you can observe these feelings,

Understanding their roots and start processing them.

This understanding is vital in the first step of healing.

Remember,

The insights gained during meditation do not necessarily require immediate action.

Simply becoming aware of these subconscious components can naturally begin to shift your awareness.

And over time,

This enhanced awareness can lead to subtle but significant transformation.

The journey into the connection between the conscious and the subconscious mind can be profoundly enlightening.

Meditation not only assists in accessing the subconscious mind,

But also helps in harmonizing with our conscious mind.

By regularly connecting with these two areas of your mind,

You acquire a greater sense of peace,

Relaxation and insight.

Ultimately,

Meditation offers a pathway to deeper self-knowledge and transformation,

One quiet moment at a time.

I will leave you with this beautiful quote from Ram Dass.

The quieter you become,

The more you hear.

It has been my pleasure being with you today.

I would love to know if this was beneficial to your meditation practice and what has been showing up for you as you meditate.

I want you to know you matter and I am always,

Always here for you.
