Welcome here dear soul,
Taking some time to get comfortable lying down,
Whether on your mat or on your bed,
Making sure your head and lower back are supported,
Wriggle into your space.
If at any time you feel you need to move,
Scratch,
Adjust,
Please feel free to.
When you're ready gently close over your eyes,
Instinctively placing your hands on your body if you feel called to do so.
You can rest them on your belly,
On your heart space,
Or down at your sides,
Or whatever feels right for you.
If at any time you feel the mind begins to wander,
Return your focus back to your breath.
Guide your thoughts back to the feeling of melting into your mat,
Into the ground beneath you,
Gently relaxing each of your muscles.
Stillness doesn't mean the mind is free from thought,
It's an option to tap into the body's needs first and choosing that.
Gently turning down the dial on the mind chatter,
Taking a pause and noticing your inner world become still.
Many things rise in stillness,
For when we are still the body and the soul speak.
We begin with returning home to the body,
Connecting in with your beautiful body,
Noticing your breath.
Where are you breathing from?
Are your breaths short and shallow?
Can you send them deeper,
Deeper into the base of your belly?
Can you make your breaths longer?
Being slower here and more intentional with your breathing.
Breathing in through the nose,
Breathing into your belly feeling it expand and breathing out your mouth.
Again taking a slow breath in,
Sending it into your belly,
Feeling it rise and exhale feeling your belly full.
Breathing in,
Imagining your breath like a gentle wave rolling in to kiss the shore and breathe it out.
Allowing the breath to flow into its natural rhythm,
Softening even further into the ground beneath you.
Creating some space between your teeth for your jaw to unclench and soften.
Relaxing the muscles in your brow,
Lowering your shoulders away from your ears,
Feeling your hips slower into the ground,
Into the mat and your fingertips and toes to uncurl.
This time is just for you,
To leave the day at the door,
To allow the to-do list to fall to the side,
To empty out the mind of its daily tasks,
Runs and schedules,
Knowing there's plenty of time for both.
You're safe to relax here,
To be held here,
To breathe out here,
To soften here.
Creating pockets of time where you can take a needed pause,
Where you can rest,
Where you can reset and rejuvenate.
Tuning into your body,
Its desires,
Its needs,
The way that it uniquely speaks to you.
Sending your breath to any areas that may be speaking to you.
This may be in subtle twinges or tightness or it may even be louder.
Focus on the area and send your breath there.
Breathing gently into this space,
Feeling your body exhale as it finds softness here.
Permitting any emotions that may have been stored there to dissipate,
To be acknowledged,
To be released,
To be exhaled and to find softness here and taking some time now to be with this.
There may be a message there for you,
There may not,
Either is okay and perfect The body speaks first,
Trusting the instincts within the body and then allowing the mind to catch up.
Each time we practice we are turning that volume dial lower and lower on the mind chatter.
In the stillness the soul speaks.
It begins as a gentle whisper,
A single word spoken from the purest of places.
Faint enough you could almost allow it to fleet on by,
Swept away with the current of daily life if it weren't for the magnetic pull it left within your centre.
Its call echoes across the seas of your life,
Calling you back home time and time again.
Leaning in with a sense of gentle curiosity and an open heart,
Allowing it to simply be without attaching thought to it and noticing what rises here for you.
Trusting that what you desire is safe here.
Trusting that what you feel is safe here.
Giving yourself that time to drop in a little deeper.
Connecting in with your breath if you need to and exhaling any heavy emotions that may be present.
Moving through them,
Working through them with the power of your breath,
Through visualizing them release like speckles of dust on the wind.
You cast them free.
Then with this you breathe with ease as your body becomes lighter and sending those waves of love and gratitude through your body now,
Through the palms of your hands.
Connecting back in with the rhythm of your breath.
Connecting back in with the feeling of your feet,
Up through your ankles,
Your calves,
Your shins,
Your knees,
Through your thighs,
Your hamstrings,
Your hips.
Feeling the gentle rise and fall of your belly through each breath you take.
Up through your spine,
Your chest,
Your shoulders,
Through your fingertips,
Your hands,
Your arms,
Your neck,
The muscles in your face,
To the crown of your head.
Noticing the sense in the air,
The sounds around you,
The feeling of fabric against your skin,
That gentle breeze within the room and gently opening your eyes and connecting back in here to the present moment.
Namaste
