Breathing in we imagine a person or animal who loves us or who we can imagine unconditional love from (e.g. the Buddha, Jesus etc.). Breathing out we release all tension into the earth. We can stay with the whole body or bring to mind and feel in the body a current difficulty in our lives associated with painful feelings. Love can hold and take care of it all.

Enjoying the sensations associated with breathing,

Breathing in knowing that you're breathing in,

Breathing out knowing that you're breathing out.

As best you can,

Staying with this rhythm,

With this knowing of the breath in the body as you breathe in and you breathe out,

Accepting that distractions are part of this practice,

They're not a problem,

Simply coming back whenever you remember to enjoying the breath coming in,

Enjoying the breath going out.

Bringing to mind an image of someone who loves you or even a historical figure or a spiritual figure like Buddha or Jesus or your dog,

Any living being present in your life or in your mind or in history,

Who you can feel love from,

You know that they love you or they could or would love you,

Bringing this image to mind and allowing a felt sense of love,

The energy of love to flow from this image you hold in your mind in front of you,

Allowing this feeling of love to flow into your body as if a wave of energy or a light is washing over and into and throughout your body.

Breathing in,

Feeling this love come in,

Wash in and through your body.

Breathing out,

Enjoying the peace and relaxation,

Allowing all tension in the body to drain out.

Towards the ground,

Into the earth,

The earth can hold it all.

Breathing in with this image,

Feeling of love,

Breathing out,

Allowing all tension to drain into Mother Earth who can hold it all.

In,

Love,

Out,

Relax.

In,

Love,

Out,

Relax.

There's no need to feel any particular way.

The energy of love can reveal what is not love.

Discomfort,

Pain may become more present.

We simply give consent for love to be present in us and act in us.

We simply open and allow.

Breathing in,

Love.

Breathing out,

Allowing it all to drain away.

Now you may allow this love that you breathe in,

This energy that washes over you to go towards parts of the body,

Sensations of the body that seem to call for caring attention.

Perhaps a discomfort,

A tension,

A contraction,

Maybe a simple physical sensation or pain or may feel like it's associated with an emotional difficulty.

Where in the whole mass of sensations that allow us to know that we have a body,

Where in the body is loving attention most called for,

Most desired?

Feeling into that area and breathing in as if into that area,

This wave,

This energy,

This felt sense of love and care that comes to you from this image,

From the felt sense of this being who's standing in front of you and who loves you unconditionally,

Unconditionally,

Who appreciates you,

Who thinks you're wonderful and wants you to be well,

Wants you to be happy,

Wants you not to suffer.

Breathing in love,

Allowing it to wash in particular into and through any discomfort in the body,

As we breathe out allowing all that discomfort,

Any tension to just drain out through the body and into the earth.

Opening to love,

Coming in,

Holding and healing our discomforts,

Breathing out,

Allowing any tension to be released,

To relax,

To drain into the ground.

No expectation that anything in particular would or needs to happen,

No need to feel any particular way,

Simply giving consent to love to do its work at its own pace.

Breathing in love,

Breathing out release.

Now bringing to mind a difficulty in your life,

In your heart right now,

If that feels called for,

If not just simply staying with this practice of breathing in love into the body generally.

If you're open to it,

If your system feels like it would be good for it,

Then bringing a current difficulty,

A painful emotional issue to mind and feeling it as best you can somewhere in or around your body.

How do you know in your body that this is a problem for you,

That there are painful emotions associated with this situation,

With this difficulty?

And if it's difficult to feel it in the body,

Simply holding the issue generally as the emotion.

Now as you breathe in,

Having love from this being who you're imagining in front of you,

Flow in towards this difficulty in the body or as an issue in the mind,

As the emotion.

Breathing in,

You are loved and this love who unconditionally holds you and appreciates you is big enough and deep enough and powerful enough to hold and be with and take care of this difficulty also,

This discomfort in the body also.

Breathing in love towards and into this difficulty and as you're breathing out as if with a deep inner sigh of relief,

Releasing it all into Mother Earth who can absorb and hold it all.

Love can hold and handle it all as best you can,

Simply remaining in contact,

Opening to being vulnerable before this discomfort,

This difficulty.

Love will take care of it,

Love will take care of you as you allow yourself to open,

Be vulnerable and feel this discomfort,

This pain.

Breathing in love towards this difficulty as felt in the body or imagined in the mind,

Felt in the heart,

Breathing in love into and towards it.

And then on that breath,

Releasing it all with a sigh of relief inside,

Releasing it all into Mother Earth,

Putting it at the feet of the Great Mother who can take it all and take care of it all.

Now seeing what your system needs now,

What this difficulty needs,

Your whole body needs,

Is it to continue breathing in love and releasing?

Is it to simply enjoy the breath,

Staying with the sensations of breathing?

Or is there elsewhere in the body where it feels good to pay caring attention for a few breaths?

Just allowing your body and mind to go where it needs to go,

For your caring attention to be where it wants to be,

For a few breaths before we come to the end of this meditation.

And as we come towards the coming moments of the day,

Forming the intention that this love we know is there for us,

In us,

And towards us at all times,

From the world,

From living beings,

From the life principle,

Or from others who know and love us now or have loved us or will love us,

We know that love is there and we are loved,

Forming the intention that we open to feeling this love,

We open to the presence of this love within us and its action within us in the coming moments of our day.
