If your mind feels busy,
Cluttered,
Racy perhaps,
Come sit,
Let's clear,
Let's learn how to unclutter some of those thoughts and worries and make some space.
We feed our bodies nutrients,
We exercise,
Hopefully we do those things,
But what are we filling our minds with?
What are the nutrients that we're providing for our minds throughout the course of the day to replenish us and to sustain our energy?
How about the nutrients of peace and stillness?
What might an infusion of that do for us on a daily basis?
Let's settle in,
Feel the ground or the chair,
Either a spine,
Roll the shoulders back and away,
Start to notice feeling heavy,
Grounded.
Let's bring our focus to the breath,
Our anchor,
The breath and start to fill up with long,
Slower,
Deeper breaths.
Inhale,
Peace,
Inhale,
Quiet,
Exhale,
Thinking and judging,
Liking and disliking.
That's just what the ego does to strengthen itself.
We can ask it to take a rest.
Let's go for neutral,
Practice not having an opinion.
It's too much chatter.
Just breathe,
Be open and fluid.
Cleansing breath in,
Releasing breath out,
Making space on the inhale,
Permission to let go on the exhale.
Let's contemplate a beautiful blue vastness just behind us,
Protecting and holding us in this moment,
Boundless blue tranquility like the sky.
Breathe deeply into it,
Letting thoughts and worries dissolve.
Can you lean back just slightly on the inhale,
Merging into this spaciousness?
And on the exhale,
Free falling,
Expanding into the peaceful stillness.
Let it flow around you and through you.
Allow that,
Become that.
Can you sit here and be held in this beautiful space?
If the mind wanders,
It's okay.
Just come back gently without self judgment.
Just come back to the breath.
That's the beauty of meditation.
Like each new morning,
We get to start again.
Without the harshness,
It's not helpful,
Not even nice.
Come back to the breath over and over.
Clarity,
Wisdom,
Here's where they emerge,
All the answers you need,
The solutions you seek right here within probably have been all along.
We just need to clear the way,
Clear the way for knowing,
Clear the way for our own pure intuition.
Truth and reality without all the distortions of our brilliant rationalizations.
We are good at that.
Sit quietly and see clearly as is.
Come daily to this place,
Practice this state of mind,
And it's yours to carry with you throughout the day.
You can create this.
That's the idea here.
Internalizing this mind state,
It will radiate from your very center.
You're cultivating not only wisdom,
But grace and ease.
Struggle less,
A lot less.
How might that work for you in your life?
Go forward with ease and feel happier.
I encourage you to sit for a few more moments on your own and just see what comes up for you and hold this stillness close to your heart.
It's there to hold you as you walk your course every day.
