Welcome dear one,

Welcome to this practice of yoga nidra.

So to prepare,

Find yourself in the position of Sarasana,

Laying on your back.

For more comfort you can put a thin pillow under your head,

You can put a bolster underneath your knees and a blanket on your body for extra comfort and warmth.

Make sure your legs are slightly apart with the feet falling to the sides,

The arms resting on the sides of the body with the palms facing up.

So in yoga nidra we access deeper states of consciousness through the profound relaxation of body,

Mind and the emotional body.

And the aim of nidra is to get into this sweet spot between wakefulness and sleep where your awareness is still in a state of wakefulness yet your body in a restful state of sleep.

So as you settle into your practice allow yourself to fully relax.

There's nothing you need to do,

There's nothing that needs to be achieved.

The only thing I invite you to,

So to say do,

Is to keep your body still and your ears open to the sound of my voice.

And should you drift off or fall asleep,

And see if you can notice that and bring yourself gently back to my voice.

So before we begin check once more that you are fully comfortable and then make a commitment to remain still in your body until the end of the practice and stay awake to the best of your ability.

And should you feel absolutely uncomfortable you can of course adjust.

However,

Try to settle as much as you can now.

And to begin we will bring our attention to the senses and we will invite a feeling of allowing them to rest.

So let your awareness travel to your closed eyes allowing your eyes to soften into the warm space towards the middle of your head.

And with this give them allowance to take a break from all the stimuli they are taking in throughout the day.

Your eyes are resting now.

Find your way to a more soft internal vision.

And let your awareness travel to your mouth and a sense of taste.

Notice if there is any taste you can perceive at this moment in time.

Feel it,

Taste it.

And then give this sense permission to rest.

From here your awareness travels up to the nose and the sense of smell.

Notice if there is anything you can smell in this moment.

Giving it a moment of full attention and then also allowing that sense to take a rest.

Notice your sense of touch.

The clothes on your skin,

Maybe even the blanket,

The surface underneath you.

All the little sensors of touch are receiving information.

So take in what is there right now.

And then offer these sensors also a space to rest.

Now let your awareness travel to your ears and the sense of hearing.

Notice how your ears are receptive to all kinds of sounds at the same time.

What are sounds you can perceive in the far distance?

What are sounds you can perceive within the borders and the walls of the room you are in?

What are the sounds in your immediate environment?

And maybe even what are the sounds inside you?

Maybe you can hear your heartbeat.

Maybe you can hear your blood flowing through your veins.

So as you find completion on sensing and receiving sounds,

Let your sense of hearing rest on the sound of my voice.

And trust that the wisdom of my voice and your inner wisdom will offer you the practice,

The greatest healing,

Everything you need right now.

Good.

And from here,

Let's go ahead and begin to connect with your heart space in the middle of your chest.

Visualize a little golden light in the middle of the chest,

A beautiful light.

First,

It is small and then growing in size.

It shines right from the center of your being,

From your innermost core,

Reflecting all the beauty and uniqueness of you.

And as you visualize this light,

Let your breath fully land on it and see if this light carries a little whisper or a heart wish,

A longing,

A yearning your heart has today.

And based on what arises for you,

And a good idea is to focus on what comes up first,

Start to build your sankalpa,

Your intention,

Starting with the words,

I am.

Your sankalpa is a short,

Concise,

Positive intention,

Such as I am unique.

I am complete.

I am love.

So as your sankalpa gets more clear,

Start to repeat it silently in your mind about three times.

And as you complete the third time,

Let the echoes spread in your being,

Let any ripples reach out into your body,

Into the torso,

Into the legs,

Into the arms and head.

Allow your body to attune to the frequency of your sankalpa.

And we will now circulate your awareness through your physical body,

Through Anamayakosha.

And we will begin to bring awareness to different parts of your physical body.

Again,

Remain relaxed,

Allow yourself to be guided.

And I want you to invite to not only bring awareness to the body parts mentioned,

But to fully be inside them.

It is as if you would slip inside them.

You would pour your entire being into the inside of the body parts mentioned,

Allowing your consciousness to merge with all that is there,

The muscles,

The bones,

The tendons,

The fascia,

So that you start to fully inhabit your inner landscape.

So let's begin with the right hand thumb,

Landing fully in your right hand thumb.

So don't just become aware of your right hand thumb,

But fully be in your right hand thumb.

Be the entire internal space of your right hand thumb.

Notice what you can sense,

Sensations,

Fluids,

Temperature,

All that is you,

The internal space of your right hand thumb.

Now extend that experience to all fingers,

All fingers on the right side.

It is as if your consciousness fully merges with the inner space of all fingers.

In the palm of the right hand,

Your entire hand,

Wrist,

Forearm,

Elbow,

Upper arm,

Right shoulder.

You are fully in your entire right arm,

Your entire right arm.

Then the right side body merging with the inner space of the right side of the chest,

Waist,

Hip,

Thigh,

Knee,

Lower leg,

Ankle,

Right foot.

Then also into all five toes,

All five toes.

You are fully in your right foot,

You inhabit your foot with all five toes.

Then come back to the entire right side of your body at once,

Being in the entire right side.

Then from here we move to the left hand thumb.

Immerse yourself fully in your left hand thumb,

Be in your left hand thumb.

Inhabit the inner space with all sensations you can notice.

Then extend that experience to all fingers,

All fingers on the left side.

Allowing your consciousness to merge with the inner space of all fingers.

And then the palm of the left hand,

Your entire hand into your wrist,

Forearm,

Elbow,

Upper arm,

Shoulder and then be fully in your left arm,

Your entire arm.

Merge with the inner space of the left side of the chest,

Waist,

Hip,

Thigh,

Knee,

Upper knee,

Lower leg,

Ankle into your left foot and into all five toes,

All five toes.

Inhabit your foot with all five toes.

Then come back to the entire left side of your body at once,

Being in the entire left side.

Then come to the back side of the body,

Right heel,

Left heel,

The space underneath the right knee,

The space underneath the left knee,

Buttocks,

Shoulder blades,

Back of the head.

And shift your awareness to the top of your head and explore the entire space of your head with all its particles and mini systems.

The eyes,

The ears,

The nose,

The mouth,

The jaw,

Chin,

Throat.

And then come back to the right and left side of the body and be in the right and left side of the body at once.

It is as if the cells of your right and left side merge.

They become one,

One entire system,

The interconnected field of your body.

It feels as if the inner universe of your body has become one unified field of consciousness,

A unified field of consciousness that makes up the vehicle in which your soul travels through this life.

Your whole body,

The entire landscape of your whole body,

You are fully embodied now.

Your inner cosmos is tender,

Connected,

Peaceful.

You are deeply at rest.

You are practicing yoga nidra.

Because everything is coming to a rest,

Bring your attention to your energy body and your breath.

Just noticing your breath,

Allowing it to be as natural as it possibly can.

As you inhale and exhale,

There is no effort.

And allow the breath to flow freely through this interconnected inner field,

Through this inner landscape of your body.

And your entire body is breathing now.

From here we will move into Mano Mayakosha,

The mental and emotional body.

And remain completely relaxed.

And I will mention different frequencies and I invite you to experience them in your body.

There may be sensations,

Emotions,

Maybe even a memory.

Allow it all to be there and arise.

Give it space.

And at the same time remain quiet,

Remain still,

Be the witness of it all.

So first invite cold into your body.

Bring about sensations of cold.

Maybe you can remember a time when you felt freezingly cold.

You struggled to keep yourself warm.

Perhaps the body was even shivering.

So bring about sensations of cold in your body now.

Your entire body is freezing right now.

And shift to the opposite,

Shift to heat and invite sensations of heat into your body.

Your entire body is becoming hot,

Almost sweaty to compensate for the inner heat.

Perhaps you can remember a time when this happened.

A time when the burning sun was covering your skin.

Maybe a time in the middle of the summer.

Your entire body is hot as if the blood was cooking.

And then feel both,

Feel cold and heat at the same time.

Don't think about it.

Begin by moving back and forth between cold and heat until they become one.

Letting the frequencies,

Sensations of various forms dance next to each other.

They become a stream of resonance.

They inform each other.

They even support each other.

And then let go of these sensations and come to a neutral space in your body.

A space of balance,

Of harmony.

You are relaxed.

You are awake.

You are practicing yoga nidra.

Stay relaxed,

Stay at ease.

We will now move into the wisdom body,

Into Vijnanamaya Kosha.

For this I want to invite you to bring your awareness to your pineal gland in the middle of the head,

Between the two lobes of the brain.

Pineal gland.

And then from here imagine a wide screen in front of your inner eye and settle your soft attention on this wide screen.

Being relaxed you will now follow my guidance for the following visualization.

On the wide screen visualize your body laying on the floor or a surface as it is right now.

You are looking at your body from like a bird's perspective.

You have like an overview effect on your body.

As you softly look down on your body you start to see little dots all over your body.

From the skin through the inner realms such as the organs,

Bones and tissues.

And these little dots are the cells that make up your body.

There is an accumulation of cells that builds the structure of your liver.

Another accumulation that creates your kidneys.

A beautiful collective of cells merging into the structure of your heart.

That's creating the skeletal system,

The bones and also the fascia in between.

You are looking down on your body in awe of nature that has created this wonder so magnificently.

And as you continue to look down on your body notice if there is a part of your body,

An arrangement of cells that does not seem fully healthy.

The cells are functioning but they are not shining in their fullest capacity.

Maybe their interconnectedness is a little disturbed,

Their full potential a little lessened.

Perhaps they have even disconnected from the rest of the body.

So look at this part of your body.

Look at it with care and compassion.

These cells are asking for your attention,

For healing.

So they can again become a full member of the community that makes up your body.

Now from here imagine as if a healing hand was coming down.

It can be either your own hand,

The hand of a person who cares for you or the hand of divine grace.

This hand is warm,

It carries light and it carries the vibration of healing.

Imagine this hand to move to the part of your body and the cells that require care.

Let it gently and softly touch that part and carefully it starts to rest here.

And as this happens the good and light vibration of this hand starts to connect with the cells as a resonance that starts to build and the light and good vibration begins to flow from the hand into the cells.

The healing is happening through connection,

Through exchange and the cells transform through this communion as they accept the help of this good vibration.

And let the hand rest there for a little while longer until you feel the process is complete.

Then let go of the part of the body,

Allow the hand to slowly rise to yield away and what is left is a feeling of warmth,

Of health,

Of recreation and light.

Now let this feeling spread in your entire body.

Your entire body becomes warm,

Healthy,

Connected.

A body of interconnected cells,

A miracle full of light.

And then let go of this visualization,

Let it dissolve into a space of silence,

Of peace,

And completion.

Remain for a few moments in a deep state of rest and pure beingness.

And in this deep rest,

This deep silence,

Feel the first vibration,

The vibration of life that is inviting your next inhale to flow into your body.

And in the pause after your inhale,

For three inhales in a row,

Repeat once more your sankalpa,

Your intention,

The I AM statement,

Three times after every inhale.

Once again,

As you complete the third time,

Let the echoes spread in your being,

Let the ripples reach out into your body,

Into each and every cell,

Allowing all the trillions of cells to attune to the frequency of your sankalpa.

Then begin to slowly,

Slowly feel more and more vibration in your body.

And also include the temperature of your body and the temperature around you.

And begin to slowly revitalize the body by including the senses,

Include your sense of touch,

Noticing the clothes,

The blanket,

Include the sense of smell,

Bring your awareness to the sense of taste.

And lastly,

Become even more aware of your sense of hearing.

So expand your hearing from its focus on my voice to any sounds in your environment.

And increase the intensity of the breath and enjoy your body as it is deeply at rest.

Notice the harmony that is there.

And notice how you are deeply relaxed,

Yet full of life force.

And with this,

The practice of yoga nidra is now complete.

Pineal tanwar.

I am practicing yoga nidra regularly for purposeful rest on my journey with chronic fatigue and anxiety and this is one of my favourite practices! It really resonates with me and allows me to find a deep relaxation. I particularly like the imagery of a healing hand over a part of the body which needs attention- this is really powerful! Thank you πŸ’™
