I'm Kate James and this is the Unwind from Work meditation.
Sleeping at the end of your work day can help you to create a clear boundary between work and home,
Giving you the chance to fully relax.
Switching off in this way will help you to enjoy your time away from work and feel fully recharged for tomorrow.
Move your body into a comfortable position now.
If your day's been particularly tiring,
You might like to do this meditation lying down.
Begin by bringing your awareness to your breathing.
Just watching the breath as it comes and goes.
Not changing your breathing in any way.
Notice the sound of the breath on the inhale and the sensation of breathing on your exhale.
Notice the temperature of the breath on the top lip and become aware of the different parts of the body that move as you breathe.
As you tune into your body,
Notice where there's tightness or tension.
And imagine you can take the breath to those places and breathe that tension out now.
Soften the muscles in your face.
Release any tightness in your jaw.
Breathe into your shoulders and abdomen.
And let your whole body begin to relax.
Turn your awareness to your thoughts now and pay attention to any thinking about your work day.
Let go of thoughts about tasks that weren't completed.
Let go of any sense of overwhelm or worry.
Let go of any self-critical thinking.
Let go of all of your work day.
Let go and deeply relax.
Allow yourself to arrive here in this present moment now and enjoy this time for yourself.
Let your awareness drift to the music now and allow the music to take you into a deep state of relaxation as it signals the end of your work day.
Take a moment now to feel a sense of gratitude for the work you've done.
For this time that you have for yourself.
As we come to the end of the meditation,
Prepare to move back into your life,
Rested,
Re-energized and at peace.
Bring your awareness back into the room and in your own time gently open your eyes.
