This is a deep meditation practice that will connect you with your feelings and help you to cultivate compassion for others and yourself. It will help you to make room for your feelings as you connect with a sense of self-love to facilitate emotional healing. Please note that this practice is not recommended if you're experiencing depression, dealing with trauma, or in the early days of grief.

I'm Kate James and this is the Self-Compassion Healing Meditation.

This is a deep practice that will help you to cultivate a sense of compassion for yourself and others as you begin to connect with and heal difficult emotions.

Healing strong emotions takes time and in the early days of grief or if you've experienced trauma or depression it may be simply too painful to sit with your emotions.

If at any time during the practice you find the experience too intense I recommend coming out of it and you may prefer to work with a therapist instead.

Find your way to a warm and comfortable position and allow your eyes to softly close.

Add your awareness to your breath now just allowing the breath to be as it is not changing it in any way.

Begin to notice how your body moves as you breathe.

The effortless flow of the breath as it moves in and out of your body.

Take a moment to scan your life now and choose one area where you've been experiencing difficult emotion.

With your awareness on your body notice where you experience those emotions within.

As you rest your awareness on your physical being begin to make room for all of the sensations that are present.

Now turn your awareness outwardly and imagine someone you care deeply about having their own experience of emotional pain.

Breathe into your heart area and let your breath guide you to the part of yourself that is compassionate and understanding.

As you open your heart extend a great sense of care for this person.

Imagine that wherever they are they are receiving your love and compassion.

You may like to imagine taking their hands in yours or offering a gentle embrace.

Turn your attention back to your body now and notice how it feels in your body as you open fully to compassion.

Pause for a moment to reflect on the fact that in the same way you encounter difficult feelings.

Right at this moment many others are sharing the same emotions.

You are never alone in your feelings and it's the shared experience of vulnerability that ignites us as human beings.

Feel a deep sense of compassion for all people who are experiencing difficulty in their lives.

And once again be aware of your own difficult feelings.

As you notice the emotion in your body breathe some space around those sensations and offer yourself kindness and caring.

Put aside any judgment of yourself and say to yourself now,

I see you and I acknowledge the depth of your feelings.

It's only when we acknowledge our feelings and give ourselves kindness and space to be with those emotions that they're free to move their way through us.

Allow all of the emotion to be here now and continue to breathe space around what you're feeling.

Move both hands to your heart area and with a gentle pressure on your body let yourself feel soothed by your own nurturing embrace.

Allow each breath to deepen the tenderness in your heart and remind yourself that in the same way you can easily offer understanding and compassion to others.

You can extend these feelings to yourself too.

Feel the warmth of your hands on your body again now and let yourself feel supported and held here by the earth.

Soothed and healed by your breathing,

Sensing the abundance of love that's within you.

Knowing that it's safe now to allow for your feelings.

Let yourself feel supported and held here by the earth.

Take a nurturing breath in and a calming breath out and as you connect with the openness in your heart be aware now that it's your own love that will heal you.

Let your whole body be filled with the energy of loving kindness and recognize that this is the pathway to healing.

Bring this loving energy to your emotional experience and to repeat these words after me.

The love and care that I offer myself is all that I need for my healing.

Allow the soothing music to wash over you now and as you rest here in stillness continue to breathe the healing energy of love into your heart.

Let yourself feel supported and held here by the earth.

As the meditation comes to a close be aware that you hold this compassionate energy within you and you can call on it at any time simply by breathing into your heart.

Begin to guide your awareness back to the present moment now and when you feel ready slowly open your eyes.

Hello Kate. Thank you so much on this track of Self-Compassion and Healing. The sound track in the background went so well with the meditation as did the sequence of the meditation. From focusing on our breath, to noticing tension and an issue that may be causing pain to someone we care a lot about. Normalization of our tension and need to offer healing to a part of ourselves that may be hurting. Knowing we are not alone and then applying self-compassionate healing to ourselves just as you asked us to do the same for someone we care a lot about. Then at the end saying we can always connect to that self compassionate energy by breathing into our hearts. Everything tied so well together. And your voice was very soothing. Thanks again Kate. Thank you so much, Kate. Iโ€™m having a really difficult time and I often feel like Iโ€™m crushed and overwhelmed and it is so hard to function in my daily life. It has been one month today that my husband suddenly passed away. Itโ€™s been an emotional day for me. My friend had sent me this link a couple of weeks ago. I forgot all about it. She reminded me today. I laid down on our bed on my husband side. It was not too much for me, this Meditation. I needed the good cry. I needed to feel my grief.
