Focusing is a gentle yet profound method that encourages you to tune into your body's wisdom, helping you navigate through emotional challenges with greater ease. This technique allows you to access your "felt sense," a bodily awareness of complex emotions and experiences, which can be particularly effective in managing anxiety and promoting healing. By learning Focusing, you'll develop skills to: Enhance self-awareness Reduce stress and anxiety Resolve emotional conflicts Improve interpersonal communication. Experience the six-step Focusing process: Clearing a space Locating a felt sense Finding a "handle" to describe the felt sense Resonating the handle with the felt sense Asking "What makes this issue/feeling so...?" Receiving any shifts that occur. Music: Special thanks to Northwestern.

Welcome to Balanced Psychotherapy.

We are going to practice focusing today.

Make yourself as comfortable as possible and if you can do anything even 2% to make yourself a bit more comfortable,

Please do so.

And ask yourself,

How am I today?

How am I really today?

You might notice that thoughts,

Plans and unimportant emotions come to you.

Just clear the clutter.

Put it on an imaginary shelf.

The clutter of thoughts and unimportant thoughts,

Not important emotions.

And ask yourself again,

How am I today?

How am I really today?

Stay in that unknown space.

Allow yourself to be in that unknown.

Touch it and taste it.

And try to describe it with one word or an image.

Try to find a handle.

And ask yourself,

Is that it,

Is that the right handle?

Does it match it well,

My first sense?

Match the handle,

The word or an image with the first sense.

Is that it?

And ask the space,

What do you want,

What do you need?

Allow the answer to come to you.

Accompany the space with compassion and kindness until a shift happens,

Until you feel a little bit lighter.

You might need to come back to focusing again today if there is no enough shift.

Stay as long as you need.

Stay as long as you wish.

And in the moment is the only truth,

So let's go slow.

In the moment is the only truth,

So let's go slow.

Let's go slow.

In the moment is the only truth,

So let's go slow.
