Welcome to your meditation for soothing yourself through a crisis.

Life provides us with many opportunities to participate deeply.

Looking out further,

Perhaps,

Stripped of protection and clothing,

Starved and disjointed.

Our emotions running through us effortlessly like a wild river,

Thrashing us and telling us to do its work and satisfy its urges.

We become inflamed and as our wound swells,

We dig our thoughts further into the tender opening,

Causing it to bleed out and worsen.

We stand in suffering in the cold and furious river of our emotions and stories and we look away from the cool ground ashore that offers us rest and perspective.

We stay almost enchanted by the pain and the confirmation of fear realized,

The oh so familiar sickness that crawls up into our bellies,

Wrapping tightly around our chest as our breath shortens.

If only we could look away just long enough to see,

We can resist the water splashing our eyes,

Blurring our vision and stinging our throats.

We could turn our bodies slowly and take the steady strides to reach the way out.

Oh,

But you can,

Dear one,

You can pull your heavy body back on the soft,

Warm earth and be warmed again by the relief to be out into the light.

Our pain and emotion can be our guide while we walk along the edge of the shore.

It can also be our captor and executioner when we gaze too far into its wake and fall into its depths.

It is not unnatural to be entranced by its allure,

To follow the emotion and its face value without looking for its edges.

It is not unnatural to be seduced by fear and its promises of truth that you will find if you only take its hand.

And it is only natural to find yourself swept up in its current,

Beaten by rocks and helplessly carried in its force.

Being lost in our emotion and racing in our thoughts can feel like drowning in an inescapable undertow.

It belittles the soft smile from your face and tells you this darkness is permanent.

It persecutes the ease within your heart and convinces you to scan the horizon and see nothing but hopelessness.

It tells you there is no goodness to be found,

No reason to look up.

It presses you against the cliff's edge as the rocks shift and fall,

Crumbling the once firm ground beneath your now unsteady feet.

It lies that this place will go on forever,

That it is ever present,

All consuming and all knowing,

That it will stalk and follow you if you try to leave.

And then it invites you to stay and get comfortable,

To surrender.

But you only need to seek the edge to turn toward it.

There is no river,

No matter its depths,

Without edge.

And close your eyes now.

Remember the feeling of peace.

It appears small in moments of emotional turmoil,

Much like the edge of a river seeming to have no effect on your current,

But it is there.

It is the edge of a river that determines its direction.

Even the most powerful rivers are submitted to the power of its edge.

They contain the river as a whole,

Just as you contain all of the emotions of your soul.

As you turn your focus away from the river cascading and splashing wildly,

Its power and volume dissipate.

It is here in this pivot that you can soothe the raging waters.

You are not a captive.

You are the whole that contains,

Not the part that is contained.

You have the magnificence to direct your focus,

To speak life and death to whatever experience you should bring,

And the things that seem completely beyond you.

Thoughts and emotions can be very helpful things to consult as you navigate downstream,

But they can trip and pull you in if you do not remain the one who questions their source and discerns their purpose.

Many of them do not feed you fruitful and healthful nourishment to create your life,

But hide within them poison and hidden lies that alter your mind and inhibit your vision,

Keeping you from change,

Pruning your growth,

And stunting your evolution.

Within you lies the ability to rise and see which thoughts and emotions match your desired vibration and move high enough that the others will fade from your sight.

Within you lies the ability to turn down everything that twists you into torment and confusion so that you can hear your stillness.

You can return to this place,

This refuge,

This sacred home.

It is your nature.

It is only thought to be a way when we clutter it with loyalties to our fear and concessions with our self-inflicted suffering.

It is always underneath,

Waiting for you to gaze at its edge and to return home.

Allow the thought you have consumed and the emotions that seem to be sitting on your chest loosen grip and fall away.

They are not in control and have never been.

We grant them their strength and can issue them weakness.

Let them grow weak in your shifting focus.

Take a deep breath.

Opening back up where this is wholeness and everything makes sense.

It is your own,

Your world that no one and nothing can reach you without your opening the door.

Close this door and unfold into this hollow.

This is here within you no matter what deafening storms may be thundering outside these inner walls.

Breathe in slowly,

Deeply and completely.

Allow its pure peace and power to cleanse the vast landscape of your life and every tight corner where past hurt,

Hopelessness,

Fear and bitterness have gathered like dirt and packed themselves into rigid movement and shallowed your breath.

Allow your breath to melt your spine and warm your joints,

Returning to flow and returning to peace.

Allow yourself to become as fluid as the flow of the air in your lungs until you rise far above anything that tethered you to the river bed and watch as they fall away from your limbs like dry,

Brittle root.

And see yourself now above and outside everything that was once enclosing you.

Then you were merely entangled in.

Then was only encircling you until you retreated within and gave it no more core to orbit around.

As its rotation loosens,

All drifts aimless and losing momentum each moment you spend there.

You are the gravity.

You are the source.

The meaning,

The inception,

The power,

The mourning to your life.

Nothing can be or stay without your granting it.

Nothing can leave without your dismissal.

Each vast experience to every tiny second contains the rhythm you set and is inlaid with the script in which your inner being has written.

Remember this,

That you go and stay,

Start and complete,

Begin and end,

Ebb and flow to your own determination that always knows it is here to experience this life in its heights and its depths.

There is no exception where you have not carefully accounted your willingness to explore this space.

In our very most desperate,

When we think we may have traveled too far from our knowing or wandered too deeply into the wilderness of our thoughts and emotions,

We are only temporarily enchanted by the fear that whispers that maybe we cannot find our way home.

When we remember we are always home,

The wilderness becomes as small as a freckle on your skin.

Take another deep breath in and feel the peace that has hummed your mind and heart back into unison.

Feel the flooding in your heartbeat filling back up with your full presence.

Your core fits in!

?

And when you are ready

Very comforting and reassuring that we are never far from home no matter how lost we may feel. Thank you.
