Hi everyone,
Kar here.
Today I'll be guiding you through a short meditation to help you feel whatever needs to be felt and become aware of the quality of your breathing.
When we're tense,
The usual tendency is to have our shoulders shrugging up towards our ears,
The chest puffing out and our breath feels short,
Quick and sharp.
All that tension builds up with blockages in parts of us.
The prana or life force isn't evenly distributed in our body.
So if you're ready,
Feel free to choose a space you can get comfortable in and come to either a seated or lying down position,
Feeling every part of the back down on the floor or your sit bones down.
Maybe you can close your eyes or just soften the gaze.
And just taking a deep breath,
Inhale here through the nose.
Open up the mouth as you exhale the stale air out of your body.
And today we're going to explore the simple act of being.
So just take a moment to notice how your breath flows in and out of your nose,
In and out of your body.
And just checking if there are any tight areas today.
And once you've identified that part that needs a little bit more attention,
Mindfully send the breath to that area.
And just taking a couple more deep breaths,
Inhaling through the nose,
Exhaling it out.
Noticing how the belly rises and falls with every breath in and with every breath out.
Simply be.
We find ourselves looking back to the past that has left us,
Yearning for a future that is still uncertain.
And between these two timelines,
We travel back and forth until we are tired of grasping for a moment that is unreachable.
Out of breath with a body that bears the weight we carry every day,
Filled with what ifs and what now.
We feel stuck and unable to move forward to a place we think we should be at this moment.
Feeding ourselves with thoughts of things we must,
Should,
And have to control.
And just allow yourself to feel whatever emotions begin to come up.
Undressing your mind with thoughts and feelings we have been hiding over layers of distractions.
Noticing now the difference of what is within and what is out of your control.
Now start to ask yourself what have you been resisting?
I'd like you to imagine that you are by the ocean or any body of water.
Start to remember the sound of the waves crashing by the shore,
The sound of the water flowing through the river's streams.
Begin to mimic the sounds using your breath.
Getting it all in and letting go on the breath out.
Notice how water coming down from a hill and meeting a rock on the way down doesn't turn back to retreat.
Instead,
The water adapts,
Adjusts,
And finds a way to go around the rock.
So at this very moment,
Imagine that your whole body is filled with water.
That you become this element of water.
Always adapting.
Being fluid with the breath.
Now start to place one hand on top of your belly and the other on top of your chest.
Start to feel the rising and falling motion of the belly as well as the beating of your heart.
The movement of air in and out of your nose,
In and out of your body,
And through the simple movement.
It is already a confirmation that you are here and that you are alive,
You are breathing.
And with that realization,
Just take a moment to be grateful.
To be grateful that we are here and that we are breathing.
Now allow the breath to fill the hollow space residing in you.
And in these moments with your breath,
Start to feel a wave of calmness come over you as you imagine yourself being wrapped in a blanket full of love that only you can give abundantly to yourself in the way that you've always wanted and needed.
And just starting to feel this warmth,
Feeling this glow surrounding each part of your body.
Knowing that you are here,
You are alive,
You are breathing.
Now surrender in this moment.
Surrender into that realization and simply be.
