Welcome to your daily meditation.

In today's practice we will explore chakras with an accompanied guided meditation.

A chakra translates to wheel in Sanskrit.

This term is used to describe focal points along the body and has been referenced in energy work.

These wheels are described in ancient Hindu,

Otherwise known as Vedic and Buddhist scriptures.

And depending on what you read,

You may know that the number of these spinning balls of energy or wheels slightly differs.

What's important in today's practice is that the concepts are viewed as similar or comparable.

Vedic texts describe the wheel in metaphorical ways such as its role in time,

So the spokes being different hours of the day,

Its symbolism in terms of light,

Knowledge,

The laws of nature and life,

As well as power and influence.

So in the example of power and influence,

Just thinking symbolically how leaders yield power at the center and move that energy forward in various directions through the spokes.

In historical texts there is also a reference to the wheel of Dharma and this means how one may live their life or perhaps the path of an enlightened life.

In the Hindu Shaktism tradition chakras are further defined as consisting of these energy centers.

And now without getting carried away by some of the esoteric meanings,

I want to invite you in today's practice to simply visualize these symbolic wheels or balls of energy along the body as per my cues.

So sitting comfortably,

Spine is tall,

Sitting upright,

Or perhaps you'd like to lay down for today's practice.

Option to close the eyes and placing the hands in a comfortable position,

Perhaps alongside the body or on the tops of the thighs.

Bring your mind and its attention to your breath.

Take a nice deep breath in through the nose and exhale.

Feeling the breath enter through the nostrils and exhale,

Softening the shoulders.

Feeling the weight of your seat against the ground and perhaps even the weight of the hands wherever they may be resting.

I want to welcome you to visualize seven spinning balls of energy along your spine.

Starting from the base of your spine,

Your tailbone,

So where you may be seated.

That's the first ball of energy.

The second just below the navel.

Then the next ball of energy above the navel.

Then the next as you move up the spine to the location of your heart.

Next to the throat.

Next to the space between the eyebrows.

And lastly to the crown of your head.

Each of these balls of spinning energy continue to just generate and radiate energy forward,

Back,

Up and down.

And starting with the base which is known as the root chakra located at the end of the spine.

Concentrating here,

I want to welcome you now to visualize that this glowing chakra,

This glowing wheel,

Ball of energy is actually the color red,

Like a red rose.

As you take the breath in,

Just imagine that that beautiful red light is spreading and on the exhale maybe it comes in a little bit.

And on the next inhale it expands and on your exhale it just constricts a little bit.

So just moving that glowing visualization with every breath coming in and that continuous dynamic movement with the exhale.

This beautiful red glowing light is connected to this concept of us feeling grounded as an individual feeling rooted,

Connected to who you are.

Noticing your inhales and softening on your exhales.

Imagining that this glowing light is spinning energy in a downward movement towards the earth and at the same time allows energy to ride up the spine in this clockwise rotation spiral up the spine.

Breathing in and breathing out.

The next chakra as we move up the spine located just below the navel location of the spine is known as the sacral chakra and it's this beautiful orange radiating color almost like the fruit.

And so as you take a breath in go ahead and visualize this glowing orange light that's radiating forward and at the same time radiating back.

It too has the ability to radiate in all directions down and up.

With every inhale the brightness of this orange light comes off a little bit stronger and with exhale just maybe constricting just to generate a little bit more energy on the next inhale and exhale.

The sacral chakra is connected to our ability to feel to have and connect to emotions.

Passing no judgment.

On your next inhale just move up the spine to the solar plexus.

This is a location maybe two inches above the navel and the color of the solar plexus is this magnificent yellow like the Sun.

And just like our glorious Sun allow that light to radiate through your body forward and back.

In fact allow this light with every breath in and out to shine brighter because this place is often referred to an energy center of empowerment.

Our ability to have a sense of control.

Breathing in and maybe softening a little bit more here in the body as you allow the light to shine upon you and within you.

On your next inhale we'll continue to move up the spine to the heart chakra and the heart chakra to no surprise is connected with this concept of love and compassion.

The color associated with the heart chakra is this luscious green like the green of a lawn of a field of a forest taking in that green hue and allowing it to radiate forward and back and through your body.

Perhaps recognizing that this is an opportunity for you to let this light bring you a little bit more warmth and compassion in this moment.

Breathing in and breathing out.

And continuing to move up the spine coming to your throat chakra.

This chakra is associated with the color blue,

A light blue in fact,

And I also think to no surprise the throat chakra is connected to your ability to communicate,

To use your voice.

So imagining a spiral radiating light blue light moving forward with every breath in and at the same time also spiraling out behind you.

It's not just about using your voice it's also knowing that you've been heard.

Moving to your third eye chakra this is located in between the eyebrows of the forehead and the light that's associated in terms of color of this chakra is an indigo blue.

This is our thinking mind,

The place where we comprehend and understand and see.

Allow this indigo light to shine forward and back up and down through your body.

Breathing in,

Long breath out.

We finally arrive at the crown chakra located at the top of the head associated with either a purple or white light,

Your choice,

And allowing the energy to radiate into your body but also out from the crown of your head.

This ball of energy connects us with our ability to know,

A sense of intuition.

Breathing in and breathing out.

Having explored these seven focal energy points along your body you might notice now perhaps where there's an area that you feel needs a little bit more time.

Go ahead,

Maybe even placing your palms upon that location hand over hand and sending your breath into that very place.

Breathing in love,

Joy,

Peace,

Whatever your body and mind needs.

And on the exhale letting go.

Deep breath in and deep breath out.

Knowing that you can come back and explore these focal points at any point in your day.

Take a nice deep breath in and on your next exhale gently blinking open the eyes.

May your day be filled with light,

Love,

And strength.

Peace.
