Golden Light Meditation This guided meditation is designed to help you cultivate a sense of light in your life.
It's a relatively simple practice that can make a substantial impact on how you perceive the world around you,
And how you experience your emotions.
You'll need a small candle for this practice,
And many people find including the Golden Light Meditation tea and essential oils with this practice to be quite helpful.
The ritual of applying some sacred oils and drinking plant medicine can have a very positive impact on our meditation practices.
For this process to work,
You need to do this practice regularly.
This is definitely one of those practices that requires a commitment on your part to generate the benefits.
Fortunately,
Most people will experience benefits by practicing just 15 to 20 minutes daily,
So it doesn't require hours of daily practice.
This type of practice can be very helpful for people who are feeling a range of emotions,
Such as feeling down,
Depressed,
Unmotivated,
A lack of joy or hope.
It also happens to be quite useful for people who experience mood changes that are associated with weather changes,
Like Seasonal Affective Disorder.
At the core of this practice is the cultivation of presence in its simplest form.
You will likely find that you are able to truly be present with much more of your life,
And may notice areas where you've been missing some of the beauty in life the more you do this.
You don't need any previous experience of meditation to do this practice.
Just follow along with the instructions and do it daily.
The practice.
Assume a comfortable seated position.
Close your eyes.
Take a deep breath.
And allow your body to relax.
Take a moment to consciously give yourself permission to be here doing this meditation,
And let go of the outside world for the next 15 to 20 minutes.
Give yourself the gift of coming into presence with yourself.
Take a few slow,
Full breaths,
Inhaling through your nose and exhaling out of your mouth.
Begin to follow your breath in and out of the body,
And just observe the sensation of your body filling up and emptying out.
Allow yourself to let go of the day's activities and just come into presence with your physical body.
If you're sitting in a chair,
Take a moment to feel the connection of your feet to the ground.
Or if you're on a meditation cushion or sitting on a rock,
Feel the connection of your butt to the cushion or the ground.
Really try to connect into the physical boundary between yourself and the floor.
Now,
Shift your breath to being in and out through the nose only.
The breath will stay this way for the remainder of the meditation.
Gently shift your attention to the candle that is lit in front of you.
Close your eyes to where they are just barely open.
You want to be able to gaze at the flame through your nearly closed eyes.
Continue to breathe normally and simply gaze at the flickering light for the next few minutes.
Some people like to count their breaths and others will do what feels natural.
There is no set time limit,
So simply do what feels comfortable to you.
You want to gaze at the flickering light for long enough that when you close your eyes,
You can still see the light of the candle as though it was on the inside of your eyelids.
At first,
You'll notice that the light fades away fairly quickly and you'll need to reopen your eyes to gaze at the candle again.
That's okay.
Just keep cycling through the process.
Open your eyes very slightly,
Gaze at the candle,
Close your eyes,
See the light,
And cycle back through one more time.
As you do this practice regularly,
You'll begin to notice that the light behind your eyelids will last for longer and longer,
And you won't need to keep recharging your eyes by gazing at the candle.
This will be part of a signpost that you're making some progress.
With time,
You'll eventually be able to generate the light without needing the candle at all.
Over the course of 15 to 20 minutes,
You simply want to cycle through gazing at the candle,
Closing your eyes,
Seeing the internal light,
And then reopening to gaze at the candle when that light fades.
Closing your eyes,
Visualizing the internal light until it fades.
Gently,
Ever so slightly reopen your eyes to gaze at the candle and continue that cycle for 15 to 20 minutes.
This is the entirety of the practice.
You are simply visualizing internal light.
After 15 to 20 minutes,
When you're ready to finish the meditation,
Gently shift your attention back to the sensation of your feet upon the ground,
Or your butt upon the meditation cushion for a few breaths,
And make sure you reconnect to the ground.
Gently massage the area around your eyes for 15 to 20 seconds,
And then open them back up to the normal world.
The goal of this practice is simply to sit in that light for 15 to 20 minutes on a daily basis.
You don't need to do anything with your thoughts.
Let them come and go.
The breath is normal,
Simple,
And smooth in and out through your nose.
The candle is simply a tool to help you generate that light,
But eventually you'll be able to not have to need the candle and generate the light on your own.
Drinking the Golden Light Meditation Tea and applying the oils will help you to generate that light a little bit more quickly and enrich the experience.
Over time you'll find that generating internal light is significantly easier,
And it's something that you bring to everything that you do in your life.
Many people will begin to notice that they see the beauty of life around them in ways that they have missed.
Again,
This is a very simple meditation,
But really quite profound in how it can affect how you see the world.
Give it a try over the course of 30 days and see how your perspective of seeing life shifts.
Thank you.
