Hello and welcome to this guided meditation for opening yourself up to the power of gratitude during a divorce,
Separation,
Or breakup.
My name is Julie Ila Grace,
And I am honored to be your meditation guide today.
Today,
You are practicing empowering yourself by taking the time to welcome an energy of gratitude into your awareness,
And by doing so,
You are becoming a light not only for yourself but for all others as well.
To begin,
Find a quiet,
Comfortable place to either sit or lie down.
Once you've found that comfortable position,
Close your eyes and take a few deep inhales through the nose,
With exhales either sighing or blowing the air out of the mouth.
Imagine that with each inhale,
You are bringing more and more calm into your body and mind,
And with each exhale,
You are releasing stress and tension.
When you're ready,
Allow your natural breath to take over again.
Draw an awareness to the center of your chest now,
And imagine a light forming there.
Visualize this light infused with a vibration of gratitude.
See it in any color or colors that you like or intuit,
And feel it pulsing and beginning to radiate,
Growing brighter and warmer.
Imagine your heart taking on this light,
And then feel that light beginning to expand.
Imagine your energetic self taking on this energy of thankfulness.
See that light of gratitude now moving through the neural networks of your brain.
Studies show that gratitude physiologically increases dopamine and serotonin,
Genuinely making us feel happier and aiding in the relief of both anxiety and grief.
So pause now and appreciate the complex nature of your brain,
And yet how simple practices can influence it profoundly.
See if you can let yourself even be grateful for the practice of gratitude.
Sometimes,
When faced with the loss of a relationship,
Anxiety and grief can be overwhelming.
So let's lay a foundation of gratitude right now.
In a moment,
You will have a minute to create a gratitude list in your mind.
Your gratitude can be for anything and everything,
No matter how big or small,
Material or immaterial.
For cups of coffee,
To the softness of dog's ears,
To having clean water.
Avoid placing any value judgments on what you're grateful for.
Just allow yourself to free associate and to simply move from thing to thing.
So now,
Intuitively ask yourself what you are grateful for in this moment,
And allow that feeling of gratitude to build within you as you write this gratitude list quietly in your mind.
For the next minute,
Answer this question,
What are you grateful for right now?
Bring that gratitude list to a pause now.
Feel yourself having expanded further and further into that energy of gratitude,
And then imagine that light of gratitude moving all the way down into the soles of your feet,
As if your gratitude gave you roots to the earth.
Likewise,
Feel it like blossoms to the sky in the palms of your hands.
Know yourself right now as both supported and open in this light.
So now,
Without attaching any judgment or being carried away by emotions,
Intuitively ask yourself what you can be grateful for in this current situation.
This could include the support of loved ones,
The opportunity to grow wiser and stronger,
Or anything else that may resonate for you.
Pause again and add these things to your gratitude list.
What can you be grateful for in this current situation?
Now again,
Without any judgment and without being carried away,
Intuitively ask yourself what you can be grateful to your previous partner for.
If this feels impossible right now,
Know that this is okay.
Allow for your process to be whatever it is,
And to go at whatever pace it naturally does.
There is no need to force,
And there is no need to judge yourself.
However,
If there are things for which you feel grateful,
Shared experiences,
Lessons learned together,
Or anything else,
Pause and add them to your list with that deep sense of gratitude.
As you close this part of your list,
Imagine offering your previous partner your thanks energetically.
Now see yourself in this moment as radiating with light.
Visualize that light now moving ahead of you and throughout this day,
Guiding the path forward for you.
Remember that gratitude is a practice that can be done in any moment,
With any single breath,
And that gratitude has palpable effects on your brain and body,
And on the life that we live in the present moment.
Take a couple more deep breaths now,
And remember that with each breath,
You connect.
You connect simply by taking in oxygen provided by other creatures.
You connect by releasing carbon dioxide,
Which is likewise used by other life forms on this earth.
This simple act of breathing connects you to this vibrant world.
Let yourself feel gratitude also for this connection.
Remember,
You have the ability to narrate your life and to adjust your narrative to one of gratitude whenever you feel compelled to do so.
With this awareness now,
Start to bring some movement back into your body.
Allow your fingers and toes to dance,
And if you're not currently sitting,
Start to bring yourself back upright.
Once seated again,
Bring your hands together into prayer in front of the heart center now,
And gently bow.
Honor your body,
Your light,
Your practice,
And this earth.
Then when you're ready,
Open your eyes,
Ready to move forward with the light of gratitude supporting you.
Blessings for your journey,
Namaste.
