Hello and welcome to this guided meditation for practicing compassion during a divorce,

Separation,

Or breakup.

My name is Julie Ilagrace and I am honored to be your meditation guide today.

Before we begin this meditation,

I'd like to invite you to practice today by being a witness to your experiences.

There is no need to judge your thoughts or your feelings.

Try to simply be with whatever comes up for you.

Welcome healing into this space,

For yourself and for all beings,

Remembering that the highest good is the highest good for all.

Start by finding a quiet,

Comfortable place to either sit or lie down.

Once you've found a comfortable position,

Close your eyes and take a few deep inhales through the nose,

With exhales either sighing or blowing the air out of the mouth.

And imagine that with each inhale,

You are bringing more and more calm into your body and into your mind.

And with each exhale,

You are releasing accumulated stress,

Tension,

Strain,

And anything else that may need releasing right now.

So take a few deep breaths here.

Breaths here.

Feel your breath as a steadying force,

Allowing you to drop deeper and deeper into this meditative moment.

Remember that your breath is here as an anchor for you anytime.

So if your mind begins to wander or cast judgments during this practice,

Simply return to your breath and allow it to reconnect you.

Pause for a moment now and consider that by being a living,

Breathing creature on this earth right now,

You are deeply connected to other people and beings whom you will never meet and never even know.

For example,

Over half of our oxygen comes from phytoplankton and other microorganisms in the ocean.

Creatures that are parts of vast ecosystems that you and I are unlikely to ever encounter.

Likewise,

Consider your clothing for a moment.

If it's made of plant materials,

Those plants will have been grown and harvested by people you will likely never have met.

And then those raw materials will have been transported also by people that you will never have met,

Nor will you ever meet.

Further down the chain,

That raw material is spun and dyed by people you will never meet,

And eventually designed and created by others whom you will also never meet.

The machines for that transport,

For the sewing,

And for anything and everything that we use machines for in this life,

Also have parts that have been designed over time by a myriad of different minds.

We are so deeply connected to both people in the present and people in the past,

Mostly in unseen ways.

So remembering that you are a connected being,

Also remember that most,

If not all beings,

Experience suffering in some way in this life.

This includes you,

Your former partner,

And anyone else connected to this current situation.

So draw into your awareness now a deep sense of compassion,

As if you saw an innocent child or animal suffering in some way.

Feel the wells of compassion overflowing in your heart.

Imagine this energy permeating all the layers of your being,

Touching your body,

Mind,

And spirit.

See this energy of compassion like a light in any color or colors that resonate for you.

Now hold yourself in your mind the way that you would a beautiful,

Innocent baby.

Know that the essence you held as a baby is still within you.

You are,

You are,

And always will be,

A beautiful being deserving of compassion and loving kindness.

As if watching as a bystander,

Without attaching any emotions,

Witness the pain and any other dark or heavy feelings you may be experiencing right now,

Such as anger,

Grief,

Or frustration.

Then imagine wrapping yourself up in that energy and light of compassion.

Feel that energy tending to your wounds lovingly and unconditionally.

Be soothed by this light and the recognition of your suffering.

As you bathe in that light of compassion,

Offer these words to yourself in your mind,

Or simply hear them and let them wash over and through you.

May I be happy.

May I always feel safe.

May I be free.

May I be happy.

May I always feel safe.

May I be free.

May I be happy.

May I always feel safe.

May I be free.

Know that you are a beautiful being of light,

Worthy of self-compassion.

And remember,

You are a deeply connected part of this planet.

By practicing uplifting yourself,

And by treating yourself kindly,

You give others permission to do the same.

Now regardless of the situation,

Visualize the pure essence of your previous partner,

Or the person from whom you are currently separating.

Remember that this person too is a deeply connected being on this planet.

Regardless of their present actions,

Visualize them in their purest form.

Again,

Much like that of a newborn baby.

And feel waves of compassion pouring from you,

As you now offer these words to them.

May you be happy.

May you always feel safe.

May you be free.

May you be happy.

May you always feel safe.

May you be free.

May you be happy.

May you always feel safe.

May you be free.

Now consider the people or beings in your life that are supporting you and bringing you comfort in this current situation.

Visualize their essences lining up in front of you.

And as you hold them in your awareness,

Say in your mind for them,

May you be happy.

May you always feel safe.

May you be free.

May you be happy.

May you always feel safe.

May you be free.

May you be happy.

May you always feel safe.

May you be free.

Now consider the people or even cultures that may have made this transition more difficult for you.

Visualize the essences of these beings also lining up.

Feel your own light embolden and brighten,

Remembering that you are a beautiful,

Strong light in this world.

As you hold these others in your awareness,

Also offer to them,

May you be happy.

May you always feel safe.

May you be free.

May you be happy.

May you always feel safe.

May you be free.

Finally,

Recalling that we are these deeply connected beings,

Visualize the infinite energetic threads shared across this earth between all creatures.

Imagine that you are the energy that connects all of these beings together.

The infinite energetic threads shared across this earth between all creatures.

Imagine infusing each of those threads with this vibration of compassion now.

Offer or feel the following.

May all creatures be happy.

May all creatures always feel safe.

May all creatures be free.

May all creatures be happy.

May all creatures always feel safe.

May all creatures always feel safe.

May all creatures always feel safe.

May all creatures be free.

May all creatures always feel safe.

May all creatures be free.

Feel yourself has washed in this energy of compassion now,

Ready to keep moving forward on this journey.

Feel your own strong,

Unique light radiating,

Ready to give and receive on this deeply connected earth.
