It’s not unusual for people to feel lonely even in a world filled with billions of people. A meditation for loneliness is about getting us into the present moment and outside of our heads. A guided meditation for loneliness is meant to help you stop thinking about your loneliness so that you have a clear mind that’ll allow you to connect to others. It’s about letting go of the judgment you carry towards yourself and removing those thoughts that leave you feeling self-conscious or insecure. We can remind ourselves that it is just a feeling. Nothing more. The feeling of loneliness is just an emotion. It isn’t a “real thing”. It is simply a mental state. A meditation for loneliness can help to reduce the lack of compassion we feel for ourselves and curb our feelings of loneliness. Go gently and be kind to yourself.

Find a comfortable position,

It can be seated or lying down.

Make sure you are warm and comfortable.

And feel free to close your eyes if you feel more comfortable to do so.

Allow yourself to relax,

Taking slow,

Deep breaths.

Using the breath to calm your mind and body.

And as you relax,

Join me to explore loneliness.

Allow yourself to connect and feel free to find words to illustrate your own experiences.

Let's begin by connecting,

Let's go inwards.

Place your left hand on your heart and your right hand on your abdomen.

Inhale slowly and deeply,

Allowing your breath to fill your body.

And now exhale.

Notice your abdomen rise and fall as you slowly inhale and exhale.

Calm your mind and connect with your soul.

Check in with your heart and what it needs in this moment in time to transform your feelings of loneliness.

Keep your attention on your breath,

Allow your breath to flow gently through your body.

Breathe easily and naturally.

Take a moment to connect with your heart and your feelings of loneliness.

Can you sense this feeling inside you?

Observe it,

Notice how it feels.

Don't let yourself sink into it,

Don't be affected by it,

Just observe it.

Now remind yourself that this is just a feeling,

Nothing more.

The feeling of loneliness is just an emotion,

It's not a real thing.

It is simply a mental state.

Connect with your heart,

Soul,

Allow the breath of life to guide you.

There is a difference between loneliness and being alone.

Loneliness is a mental state that is marked by a dissociation between what people want in a relationship and what they actually experience in that relationship.

The feeling of loneliness is not caused by actually being alone.

Some people may have many friends and close family but feel alone and some people may have no one but do not experience the mental state of loneliness.

Go gently.

Go inwards and connect with your heart and mind.

May I find inner strength to sit with my feelings of loneliness.

May I find inner strength to sit with my feelings of loneliness.

Gently notice if any resistance comes up.

Notice what feelings or thoughts may arise,

Just let them be.

May I accept at times that feelings of loneliness may come and go,

Like a wave on the shore.

May I accept at times that feelings of loneliness may come and go,

Like a wave on the shore.

May I notice how these feelings come and go,

There's no need to dwell on them.

May I notice how these feelings come and go,

There's no need to dwell on them.

Take this moment to inhale peace and acceptance,

Hold and exhale love and joy.

Inhale peace and acceptance,

Hold and exhale love and joy.

Continue to gently breathe and allow your emotions to flow.

Continue to go inwards connecting with your soul,

Allowing yourself to release your feelings of loneliness.

May I remind myself that loneliness is just a feeling,

Nothing more.

May I remind myself that loneliness is just a feeling,

Nothing more.

May I allow myself to receive kindness and love.

May I allow myself to receive kindness and love.

Continue to witness your emotions,

Keeping your heart and mind open.

I am worthy of love and support.

I am worthy of love and support.

Guide me in my exploration of loneliness and allow me to learn how to transform this back to love.

Show me how to transform this loneliness back to love.

Continue to take gentle breaths.

Scan your body and notice where you may have any tension or pain from your loneliness.

And with each inhalation,

Imagine a white light entering that space and filling the space with peace and acceptance.

As you exhale,

Release and allow tension or pain to be eased.

Give yourself permission to release any thoughts or feelings that are making you feel stuck.

You deserve to release and have peace.

Breathe in deeply.

Exhale.

Releasing your hands from your body.

If your eyes are closed,

You can gently open your eyes.

Coming back to the room.

Thank you for joining me.

Continuing if you wish to contemplate and journal to release anything that may have come up for you.

Peace and blessings,

Beautiful soul.
