Welcome to this gentle meditation on dealing with loss and grief and finding peace again.

Loss is a part of being human.

It's a part of our lives and it is something that we will all experience at some time.

However,

Knowing that it will happen to all of us doesn't make it easier.

Dealing with grief and losing someone you love can be the hardest thing you may ever have to deal with.

A sudden loss can be traumatic,

While even an expected one doesn't ease the pain of someone's passing.

We may lose a loved family member,

A partner or friend,

Or a special pet who is a huge part of our family.

We may experience the end of a friendship or the loss of a child moving out from home.

Loss comes in many forms.

None of them are easy.

Loss may mean that someone you loved has moved on or is no longer in your life.

The ache is still there,

For loss does not discriminate.

It affects all of us deeply and life will never be quite the same again.

Grief is a journey and no one experiences it in the same way.

No way is right or wrong.

Accept your journey in whatever way it presents and know that you will find peace once more.

Take some time out of your day to sit or lie down comfortably.

Make sure you're warm and in a quiet space,

Then gently close your eyes.

Take a deep breath in,

Hold it for a moment,

Then slowly let it go.

Take another deep breath in,

Hold it gently,

Then let it go as you start to unwind.

Breathe in,

Breathe out.

Release your tears.

Allow them to flow if you need to.

Know that you are safe and you are loved.

Allow yourself to just be.

Sit in the stillness of time.

Sit in the stillness of your breath.

Feel your breath come in,

And slowly let it out again.

Allow yourself to just be.

How then do we deal with our grief and the empty hole that has been left behind?

How do we deal with our vulnerability?

For loss does make us vulnerable.

It is uncomfortable and unimaginable and can feel like a bad dream.

Will it be gone when we wake up,

Or will it still linger on?

It may be something that we try to deny or bury deep within us,

For it can be too painful to face and feel.

Loss can also bring up fear,

For a future without our loved one seems inconceivable.

Breathe in,

Breathe out.

Keep breathing in those long,

Slow breaths.

Let your body and mind relax,

And slowly let go.

Relax,

And slowly let go.

Allow yourself to just be.

Sit in the stillness of your breath.

Sit in the stillness of your heart.

Feel its warmth,

And allow yourself.

To just be.

Just breathe.

Breathe.

Our emotions can be devastating,

And life may feel broken for quite some time.

How can we ever move on?

Allow your emotions to be expressed,

And be gentle with yourself.

Allow yourself to feel whatever you need to feel.

You may be angry,

Or hurt,

Or in disbelief,

Or exceedingly sad,

Or overcome.

Allow these feelings to be.

I'm not trying to diminish this,

Because loss can be life-changing.

It's usually out of our control,

So brings up fear and anxiety.

Be gentle with yourself.

Allow yourself to grieve.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Allow yourself to just be.

Grief has no time limit.

It doesn't end suddenly.

It's heartbreaking and real,

And sometimes,

It's painful.

It's heartbreaking and real,

And feels like it will never go away.

How can life ever be normal again?

And how do we navigate this new normal?

Place your hands on your heart,

And feel the warmth of it beating.

Open up your heart,

And feel the love within you,

For those who have gone.

If you need to,

Allow yourself to cry.

Tears are a gift of grace.

Allow them to flow.

Feel your tears.

Healing takes time.

Give yourself the gift of space.

Just be with your feelings,

Whatever they may be.

Breathe in,

And feel the grace that surrounds you.

Feel the universe holding you in its arms.

You are not alone.

And never will be.

You have been loved,

And will always be loved.

The essence of those who you have lost will always remain with you.

Take care of yourself.

Allow yourself to feel.

Allow yourself to be supported.

Breathe into the warmth that surrounds you.

Breathe into those arms that hold you.

Just breathe.

Just breathe.

Just breathe.

Just breathe.

Just breathe.

Sit with your thoughts for a few moments,

And allow yourself to breathe.

The pain of loss gradually lessens.

You will not forget,

But that empty place within your heart will begin to slowly heal.

Place your hands on your heart,

And feel it beating.

It keeps you strong and alive.

It may not feel like that at present,

But listen to its message.

It is sending you love.

Your heart will encompass the grieving.

Its branches will spread out within,

As new life forms,

And hope grows again.

Feel your breath filling up your lungs with your life force energy.

Feel your heart filling up with your divine light.

Feel peace.

Feel compassion.

Your loved ones never leave you.

Their love and angel light will always shine upon you.

Remember the joy you shared.

Remember the love.

Feel their caress in the warmth of the sunshine.

Feel their whispers in the blowing of the wind.

Feel their touch in the gentle kiss of a butterfly.

Feel their scent in the fragrance of a rose.

Feel their embrace in the droplets of rain.

Know they are always with you.

Feel the warmth of your loved ones envelop you in their arms.

You are safe.

You are whole.

You are home.
