Hi,
My name is Jennifer Ransall-Smith and it's been a really heavy time in the world and so I thought I'd create a meditation for those who've been out there on the front line trying to make this world a better place.
This is the Meditation for Activists Centering and Recharging.
For those of us who stand on the front lines of justice,
Who raise our voices against oppression and fight for the rights of others,
This is a meditation for you.
This work is demanding.
The weight of the world can feel heavy on our shoulders.
The struggles we fight are real,
But so are the moments we need to pause,
Center ourselves,
And refill our own cup.
Activism is not just about action.
It is about sustainability.
It is about understanding that in order to continue the fight for justice,
We must first honor and care for ourselves.
In this meditation,
I invite you to remember that your work matters,
But your well-being matters too.
It is through your strength,
Your energy,
And your grounded sense of purpose that you can make the most lasting impact.
You are not alone in this.
Take a moment to pause,
To return to your center so you can rise stronger,
Bolder,
And even more powerful in the work that lies ahead.
I want you to find a quiet space where you can sit comfortably and close your eyes.
Take a deep breath,
Filling your lungs with the air and letting go of the weight of the world with every exhale.
With each inhale,
Feel the energy of the earth rising up through you,
Grounding you in this very moment.
With each exhale,
Release any tension,
Any fatigue,
Any overwhelming feelings of burden.
Allow your body to relax as you become aware of the sacred work you are doing.
The justice you fight is for necessary,
For peace,
For healing,
And for rest.
Visualize yourself standing strong on the front lines,
Whether in a protest,
In the courtroom,
Or in the boardroom,
Making a stand for justice.
You see the faces of those who need you,
Those who have been silenced,
Oppressed,
And ignored.
You feel their stories in your heart.
But as you stand tall,
You know that your work cannot continue without moments of restoration.
So I want you to imagine yourself walking away from the front lines for a moment,
Just long enough for you to refill your own cup.
Picture yourself sitting in a peaceful place,
Surrounded by nature or whatever brings you inner calm.
And with every breath,
You feel a sense of renewal,
Of energy flowing back into your body.
The work will always be there,
But so will you.
Rest in the knowledge that you are worthy of these moments of peace.
The more centered and whole you feel,
The more effective your activism will be.
You are an instrument of change,
And it is necessary that you maintain your health,
Your strength,
And your spirit.
I'm going to read some affirmations to help center you and ground you and anchor you even more in your fight for justice.
Number one,
I am committed to the work of justice,
But I honor the need to rest and replenish.
I am committed to the work of justice,
But I honor the need to rest and replenish.
Number two,
My voice matters and my health matters equally.
Say it with me.
My voice matters and my health matters equally.
Number three,
I am a powerful force of change,
And I am deserving of moments of peace and rest.
I am a powerful force of change,
And I am deserving of moments of peace and rest.
Number four,
I stand strong on the front lines of justice,
But I understand that I must care for myself to continue the fight.
You ready?
I stand strong on the front lines of justice,
But I understand that I must care for myself to continue the fight.
The next one,
Every action I take for justice is rooted in my strength and my balance.
That's pretty good,
Huh?
Every action I take is rooted in my strength and my balance.
The next one,
The work is ongoing,
But so is my need to stay grounded,
Healthy,
And whole.
The work is ongoing,
But so is my need to stay grounded,
Healthy,
And whole.
Next,
I am part of a larger movement,
And my well-being fuels the change I wish to see.
Your turn.
I am part of a larger movement,
And my well-being fuels the change I wish to see.
And the final one,
Resting is not a retreat.
It is a necessary act of preservation.
Resting is not a retreat.
It is a necessary act of preservation.
This work is so important,
And I developed a couple journal prompts that I'm going to put out here and just give you something to mull over when you're doing your journal in the morning or if you want to pause and spend a little moment excavating and going a little deeper.
The first one is,
What aspects of my activism most drain me,
And how can I create space to recharge from them?
Again,
It is what aspects of my activism most drain me,
And how can I create space to recharge from them?
Number two journal prompt is,
What practices help me stay grounded in my work for justice?
What practices help me stay grounded in my work for justice?
The third one is,
When I think about a long road ahead,
How can I ensure I stay healthy,
Energized,
And effective?
When I think about the long road ahead,
How can I ensure that I stay healthy,
Energized,
And effective?
The fourth one is,
How can I honor my body and my mind while continuing to fight for the causes I believe in?
How can I honor my body and my mind while continuing to fight for the causes I believe in?
And the last prompt is,
What does self-care look like for me,
And how can I make it a non-negotiable part of my activism?
What does self-care look like for me,
And how can I make it a non-negotiable part of my activism?
As I bring a close to this meditation,
Remember that your work is needed.
Your voice is essential,
But let me remind you,
So is your well-being.
It's critical you take time to care for yourself,
So that you can continue being the powerful force for justice that the world needs,
Especially now.
When you're rested and centered,
You bring even more strength to the fight.
Stay grounded,
Stay resilient,
And above all,
Keep going,
Because the world needs you and your unwavering commitment to change.
Have a wonderful day.
Namaste.
