Be conscious of change.
There comes a time when humanity is called to shift to a new level of consciousness,
To reach a higher moral ground.
A time when we have to shed our fear and give hope to each other.
Wangari Maathai.
We are in a time of great change,
And all around us,
We are experiencing distortion and disruption.
We are also seeing creativity and choice shape our very existence.
And we are connecting in new ways while encountering separation like never before as a human race.
Change doesn't have to happen to us.
It can be something that occurs with us.
And with our participation,
Our permission,
And our intention,
We can be conscious of change.
So let's begin this meditation by granting ourselves permission.
And that begins in the power of breath.
Let us take a deep breath in through our nose and hold it for a few seconds,
Allowing the oxygen to find its way to where it's needed most,
In our bodies.
And exhale slowly and gracefully as you allow your body permission to release the grip our cells and bodies know all too well.
Amidst this tidal change,
It's okay now to unclench.
As you breathe in again,
Remember wherever you seek inspiration and expansion,
That it begins with breath.
Just as your beginning in the world began with breath,
You can always welcome the power of beginning with breath.
It is important to remember that change is processed in the brain,
But felt in the body,
In this body.
What is your body feeling as you think about change occurring all around you?
What are you carrying?
What do you need to unclench today?
Often our bodies are feeling a sensation of loss.
Change is felt and sensed in ourselves at first as loss,
So we must grieve it.
As with any loss,
We must meet it with compassion and sorrow and care.
Let us take another deep breath in as we make room for our bodies and ourselves to measure the sorrow of loss.
To make room to gesture towards grace.
To listen to the sounds of ungrasping,
Unclenching,
And releasing.
How does that feel?
Can you feel that fluttering just behind your eyelids?
Follow the fluttering from just behind your eyelids and up into your mind's eye.
What is it you see?
What is forming now in your mind?
What is bubbling up to the surface?
Now imagine there's a luminescent thread from your mind's eye that winds around your spine to find your heart.
Feel the electromagnetic resonance just behind your ribcage.
Now feel your diaphragm rising like a true tide,
Your foundation for breath.
As the tide rises in you,
It meets the luminescence all around your heart.
The elements of who you are combine,
Creating a prism of light that can be amplified with every beat and every breath.
How does it feel to create the light inside you?
To let it find its way to the crevices and the caverns that have long been neglected,
Lived in the shadows and craved to be bathed in warmth and light.
In your excavation inward,
You've tapped a natural spring.
Her waters are warm and purified.
As they cascade over your bones,
Your boulders that carry your knowings,
Your stories,
Your movements.
Listen for the sound of flow.
It's within you.
It has a source,
Just as your story has an origin.
Trace the tributaries inward.
Dance in the tide pools of your knowing,
Your discovery,
Your consciousness.
May change always be a companion in your consciousness.
Namaste.
