Namaste and welcome to this mantra meditation.
Please find a comfortable seat with your spine in a vertical position and as you find your place take a few slightly deeper breaths and close your eyes.
Take a moment here as we begin to release any expectations that you may have for today's practice.
Allow this session to be as it is.
Let your body breathe naturally and with each exhale let yourself relax a little further.
Simply observe your breath.
It may be fast,
Shallow,
Deep or slow.
Whatever is happening is good.
As we breathe into our practice we are going to silently ask ourselves a few questions,
Turning our attention inward and preparing our minds for meditation.
Place your attention on your heart center and silently ask yourself the question,
Who am I?
Who am I?
Resist the urge to answer your own question and simply allow whatever comes up in your mind to float by.
Just watch.
Do not force anything.
You are not any of the things that are popping up.
You are the one watching.
Who am I?
The next question silently,
What do I want?
What do I really want?
Again resisting the urge to answer this question.
See if you can watch whatever images naturally appear in your mind.
Let them rise and fall.
There may be a flood of things coming up and however enticing they may be,
Resist the urge to grasp or plan anything here.
Just watch and let everything go.
What do I want?
A third question,
What is my purpose?
What is my purpose?
For this question again don't look for answers but see if you can sense the quiet soft voice in your mind.
This is your intuition and will gently guide you without using fear as a motivator.
Perhaps you've never pondered this question before.
This is a perfect place to open up a conversation with the universe.
Letting whatever comes up exist in your mind without judgment.
Ask yourself the question,
What is my purpose?
Finally,
What am I grateful for?
What am I grateful for?
In what ways am I fortunate today?
No matter what answers are popping up here for you,
The simple act of searching for your blessings will activate the part of your brain that is responsible for all positive emotions.
Again resisting the urge to answer,
What am I grateful for?
Let all of the questions and answers go and put your attention gently on your breath.
Let your body breathe how it wants.
Simply watch and rest for a moment.
Rest in the perspective of witnessing awareness.
Now shift your attention to your inner voice and begin to repeat your chosen mantra silently in your mind.
If you do not have a personal mantra,
You may use the mantra,
SO HUM,
SO HUM,
SO HUM.
Repeat your mantra over and over allowing the vibrations to sink into your conscious field and soothe your body-mind.
Keep your attention on the gentle repetition.
If you become distracted by a thought,
Emotion,
Sensation in your body,
Or sound in your environment,
Gently refocus on your mantra and continue.
From time to time the mantra may sink up with your breath,
Or it may not.
Allow this to happen without interference.
Whatever is happening is good.
Your mantra may change in pitch,
Speed,
Or cadence.
This is also natural.
As long as you can recognize the vibration as your mantra,
Allow it to morph and shift as it wants.
SO HUM,
SO HUM,
SO HUM.
We will continue like this in silence.
I will watch the time and be back to get you at the end.
Enjoy your meditation.
You may softly let go of your mantra,
But keep your eyes closed and rest.
Rest in awareness.
Rest in consciousness.
Rest in being.
Simply rest.
The moments following meditation are precious opportunities to set intentions for life.
You can think of these intentions as seeds planted deep in your subconscious.
You'll repeat each of these with your inner voice,
Allowing them to resonate inward.
Joyful,
Energetic body.
Joyful,
Energetic body.
Calm,
Reflective mind.
Calm,
Reflective mind.
Loving,
Compassionate heart.
Loving,
Compassionate heart.
Lightness of being.
Lightness of being.
Let all of these intentions go,
Allowing the universe to sort out all of the details.
As we close our session,
Take a moment to thank yourself for sitting down to meditate today.
As simple as the practice may be,
It can be one of the most difficult things to actually do.
Our modern conditioning does not value stillness and rest,
So your choice to sit should be celebrated.
Before you open your eyes and return to activity,
Take a few deeper,
More intentional breaths to seal your meditation.
OM GAM GLUM GANAPATIYE NAMAHA.
OM GAM GLUM GANAPATIYE NAMAHA.
OM GAM GLUM GANAPATIYE NAMAHA.
This practice is complete.
