'In My Quiet Body' enables children to connect with the body, to use the breath and to learn to relax. It is simple and easy to do. A conscious breath is the first step toward self-awareness and affect-regulation. Awareness of current sensory stimuli provides a link to the here and now and to the emotions. Many children exist in the zone of hypo-arousal (down regulated, relating to depressive disorders) or hyper-arousal (up regulated, relating to anxiety disorders). Mediation can support a move toward optimum arousal or a comfortable zone. This meditation is one of three meditations for children, which have been offered in many schools and agencies in Australia, with positive outcomes.

Music Lie down and make yourself comfortable.

Close your eyes,

Become quiet and still.

Take a big breath and hold it.

Now let go and become all floppy.

Take another big breath and tighten everything,

Legs,

Belly,

Chest,

Arms.

Hold your breath.

Now breathe out and become floppy.

One more time.

Squeeze everything tight.

Body,

Legs,

Arms,

Hands,

Face.

Hold.

Now let go with a big breath out.

Put your hand on your belly and take a soft breath now all the way to your hand.

Gently breathe out.

You are going to imagine a lovely,

Warm,

Heavy feeling coming up through your feet to your head.

Let's start with breathing in and imagining the warm,

Heavy feeling creeping into your feet.

When you breathe out,

Your feet become floppy and soft.

Breathe in again and imagine the warm,

Heavy feeling coming up into your ankles,

Your knees and the top of your legs.

As you breathe out,

Your legs become floppy and heavy and warm.

Take a breath again and breathe the heavy,

Warm feeling up through your feet,

Up through the legs,

Into your belly now.

You feel it slowly creeping up.

Feel your belly become soft and relaxed.

And on the next breath,

Breathing in,

Breathing the warm,

Heavy feeling up into your chest and back.

And breathe out and feel your chest and back relax.

Now your body is feeling floppy and heavy and relaxed.

And your legs are feeling heavy and relaxed.

Breathe in again and feel the lovely,

Warm feeling coming up from your body into your neck and face and head.

Feeling your face and head become relaxed.

Imagine this warm feeling is a special colour.

Your body is filled up inside with the lovely colour and the warm feeling.

When you breathe out,

The colour moves.

You can make it bigger and brighter with your breath.

On the next breath,

Breathe out your colour,

Making a beautiful coloured bubble around you.

Your bubble can float with you inside it.

Feel the bubble lifting off the ground and gently floating up into the air.

You can go wherever you want in your bubble.

Imagine you are gently floating around high up in the air.

You see birds flying past.

Your bubble floats into the clouds and out the other side.

Look down and see the things below you.

Now you are flying over the beach.

You can see the sand and the water.

Now take your bubble to a place you really love.

This might be a special place that you know or a place that you could imagine.

I'm going to stop talking for a moment so that you can imagine that you're at your special place in your bubble.

Feel the выфи.

You You You You You You You It is time now to bring your bubble back to the room keep your bubble around you You Have a big stretch making yourself really long You Now make a star shape pushing out with your feet and your hands And open your eyes when you're ready You
