As I'm recording this I keep pressing pause because there's a pause button on my recording.

Today's episode is called take a pause.

Welcome back to this Discovering Love podcast series and today's episode is all about an invitation for you to step out of the noise of your life even just for a few minutes to really check in with yourself.

So let me ask you how you're really feeling today.

Are you feeling heavy,

Engulfed in overwhelm,

Confused about what's next?

Maybe you're tired of people pleasing everyone around you yet when you finally stop you realize you have nothing left for yourself.

If that's where you're at right now that's okay and this episode is just for you because I'm going to share a gentle practical remedy to help you bring yourself back into harmony and balance and it's a simple practice I call the pause method and it's something I've been working on every day for the last week and it's something you can do anytime,

Anywhere to reset and reconnect.

For those who are new here I'm Jo,

My podcast is called Aligned with Purpose in Love and Life and I help you establish healthy boundaries and routines,

Get you to know who you really are,

Love yourself on a deeper level and raise your sense of self-worth and value and I know from my own life experiences that learning to pause isn't just about slowing down,

It's about reclaiming parts of yourself,

Your energy and listening to that voice within which is your intuition that often gets drowned out by other people's needs.

So let me share a little story.

A while ago I noticed I was running on autopilot,

My days were full,

My schedule was busy and I kept telling myself this is fine,

I can cope,

I can manage but inside I felt like I was drowning.

It's like I was walking through a beautiful garden but my eyes were fixed on my phone,

Missing everything around me,

Distracting myself as I went along.

That's what life can feel like when you never pause,

We just keep moving but we're not really here and what I mean by that is we're not really present in the now moment.

So I see the pause,

I'm calling it method,

As a remedy and it's for you and for me and for people that are feeling like they just have no time for themselves but if you take a few moments you can practice this daily.

So here's what I would like for you to try when you feel that weight on your shoulders or a swirl of too many thoughts in your head and you are just going over thinking overdrive.

I've been doing that for the last three weeks,

I felt energetically drained and you may have been feeling this too.

So take a pause,

Stop what you're doing,

Take a slow deep breath,

Do that with me now,

Take a breath in and take a breath out and give yourself permission to just be.

Ask yourself,

How am I really feeling in this moment?

What do I truly need right now?

And then pause,

Let your body answer before your mind rushes in.

Now remember this takes practice,

That's why it's called a daily practice.

Now what I found is if I use a calming tool,

A toolbox that I can get out,

Maybe it's tapping or and that's tapping on the side of your hand or tapping on your body,

On your head or various points on your body or something called havening which is like simply self-soothing your body,

Just stroking your face or stroking your hands together or the side of your shoulder gently and I'm doing it now because it feels so calming or just simply place your hand or your hands on your heart and use this as a reset button to just stop and be still and what this does,

It gets you to listen to your nervous system,

Those parts inside that are on a repeat record going in a well.

So say,

Speak,

Write something loving to yourself,

It may be something like I'm allowed to rest,

I'm allowed to stop,

I am safe,

I'm safe to slow down and then just reaffirm,

Reaffirm that you are loved,

Loving and lovable because by discovering love it really is an insight job and it starts with you.

My invitation is for you to establish a small daily routine,

Try it for seven days,

Just stop and pause even if it's only for two minutes in the morning or before bed or after work,

You find your time that suits you where you can create a habit,

It takes 21 days to start to repeat form a habit and then it can take you know a few months to really properly establish it but you'll be really surprised how just in a few days you can start to feel the ripple effect of feeling calm and getting clarity in your life.

So if you want to take out,

Remember this,

Just remember one thing if you can from this episode and let it be this,

You cannot pour from an empty cup,

Pausing isn't selfish,

It's a way of coming home to yourself,

The benefits of practicing this daily are huge,

You feel more grounded,

Less reactive,

You feel calm and balanced,

Able to hear your intuition more clearly,

You start making choices from a place of love and not obligation.

So today I invite you to take a pause just for you even if it's for two minutes,

Even if it's just one deep breath and then you notice what you notice,

You notice how different life feels when you come back to yourself before giving out to the world.

So thank you for joining me for this episode and I hope you found it helpful,

Share with someone you love who also needs permission to pause until next time,

Remember your needs matter and you are worth it,

Every moment of care give back to yourself.
