Effortless awareness meditation.
It doesn't matter if you're sitting on the floor or in a chair or lying down.
Be comfortable.
Close your eyes.
Notice that you don't have to make any effort or go anywhere to be aware of the natural state of presence within you.
It's not coming from somewhere else.
Your natural state of presence is simply here.
You can start by noticing the breath.
Still moving by itself.
Unaided.
Notice sensation in the body.
Also unaided.
Sensations are simply moving through the body by themselves.
Effortlessly.
Notice sounds moving through your field of awareness.
Unaided.
You might also notice thoughts moving through the mind.
Perhaps the attention by habit will drift to something that happened earlier today or in the week.
Or something that may happen later today or next week.
Again,
Sometimes this is just a habit.
Just allow these thoughts to pass like clouds in a vast blue sky.
Remain only in the noticing.
Try not to follow any particular thought.
Just be here.
You're not trying to do something else or achieve a certain state.
You're not trying to quiet your thinking mind.
You're simply here.
Simple awareness.
Notice what you can be effortlessly aware of.
Being aware of senses in the body.
You are not the senses.
Being aware of your breath.
You are not your breath.
Being aware of thoughts.
You are not your thoughts.
Being aware of feelings or emotions.
You are not the feelings or emotions.
You are not in a special state,
A contrived state.
You're simply in presence.
Nothing to achieve.
Nothing to obtain.
Nothing forced.
Just here.
Effortlessly aware.
If there are any feelings,
A sensation,
Sounds or thoughts,
Just notice this.
Nothing to add.
Nothing to take away.
Nothing to fix or change.
Stay only in the noticing.
In a moment,
I'm going to ask that you open your eyes.
When you open your eyes,
You'll see how this quality of inner silence can remain.
Like a subtle energy inside of the body.
Get used to it.
And gradually this current of peace will remain.
When your mind is in a natural state of being,
You'll notice that you don't have to think so much,
Prepare so much.
The feeling of anxiety,
Restlessness,
Will not be so strong in you.
The more you focus your attention this way,
The easier your life will become,
The lighter your life will feel.
So when you're ready,
Take your time.
Open your eyes.
