Hello and welcome to this meditation that will help you explore new possibilities and develop an optimistic attitude about the future.
You can practice this meditation in a seated or lying position or even while taking a mindful walk.
Start with a deep breath in and on your exhale let your shoulders soften away from your ears.
Feel your forehead broaden and relax and find some space between your back teeth so that your jaw unclenches.
On your next inhale begin to count from one up to four and as you exhale count from four down to one.
Repeat this for several rounds on every exhalation.
See how much more softness you can find in your face and your neck,
Your shoulders,
And anywhere else that you hold tension in your body.
On your next breath in again count from one up to four and on your exhale count backwards from eight down to one.
Inhale from one to four,
Exhale from eight down to one.
After your next exhale release the counting.
Bring to mind something that you have been worried about.
It could be something going on in your present or a situation in the future that brings you anxiety or fear.
You might be tempted to imagine all of the things that could go wrong with this situation.
The what-ifs.
Your mind can trick you into thinking that if you spend enough time worrying about whatever might go wrong that you will somehow be more prepared for it.
But what if instead you thought about what all could go right?
Can you imagine this circumstance unfolding in the best possible way?
Start to picture the details of that now.
What does it look like?
How do you feel?
Ask yourself some new what-if questions.
What if it all works out?
What if this situation unfolds better than I could have predicted?
What if this leads to the highest good for me and those around me?
What if I learn something new and wonderful about myself?
What if it gets easier every day?
What if I grow more confident?
What if everything goes right?
What if the details are all taken care of?
What if the result is beautiful?
Receive with an open heart this vision that's in front of you right now.
The one where it all works out.
Look around you and take in the details.
What does it look like?
How do you feel?
Take a mental snapshot of this image as if you could pin this picture on your mental bulletin board.
Commit to letting this image,
The one where it all works out,
Be the one that you reference whenever you think of this situation.
If you find that this image begins to fade or becomes difficult to conjure up in your imagination,
Return to this practice again.
Ask yourself,
What if it all works out?
If you're ready to bring this daydream to a close,
Start to let the images in your mind fade and your awareness return to your breath.
Take in your surroundings through all five senses.
Notice what you can hear close to you and far away.
If your eyes are closed,
Picture the light or shapes behind your eyelids.
Notice any smells or tastes.
Feel the texture of the surface that you're sitting or lying on right now.
As your awareness comes back to the present,
Take a full breath in and release it out with a sigh,
Letting your shoulders drop away from your ears.
