In this meditation, we find forgiveness in our hearts for others and for ourselves. Carrying around anger is heavy and can be depleting. When we find it in our hearts to offer forgiveness, we allow ourselves to heal and feel lighter.

Thank you for joining me for this meditation.

This meditation is about forgiveness for ourself and others.

So I invite you to find a comfortable seated position with your hands relaxed,

Either folded in your lap or palms facing up on your thighs.

And if it feels okay,

I invite you to close your eyes at this time or bring them to a downward gaze and just let your mind know that all the thoughts and worries can be put aside for a moment and you can come back to them later and turn your awareness to the breath and begin to increase the length of your inhale and try to match the exhale so they're both nice,

Long,

And slow.

If it helps to count,

You can count to four or five for your inhale and the same length for the exhale.

Notice how the breath comes easy and when you finish the exhale,

Allow your breath to return to its normal pattern and just take a moment to feel what it feels like in your body.

Are there any obvious sources of tension?

If so,

Can you relax them just a little and let go?

You can even breathe into that area or fill it with white iridescent light,

Allowing the body to relax deeper into this moment.

And take a moment to think of someone whom you are angry with or have been in the past,

Someone who has upset you,

Or you find yourself frustrated with,

And this may be challenging,

But I invite you to find one,

At least one positive quality or trait about this person.

Maybe they have nice hair.

Maybe they've done something kind for you,

No matter how big or small.

Find at least one positive trait or quality.

If you're able to find more,

Think about more positive things about this person.

And if you can,

Notice how the feeling shifts a little bit when you think about the positive aspects of this person.

What if this person was just doing the best that they could,

That they were capable of at that moment in time?

Can you send this person compassion?

Can you send them love?

They're just a human being doing the best that they can.

And if you can find it in your heart,

Send them forgiveness and say out loud or to yourself,

I forgive you.

And that may be hard,

But continue to repeat,

I forgive you in their name.

I forgive you.

I forgive you.

I forgive you.

Notice if this becomes any easier or if it feels like it's less of a burden on your heart by offering forgiveness to this person.

Continue to say,

I forgive you in their name.

And send them love and compassion again for doing the best that they could and release them and take a nice,

Slow,

Deep breath.

And now think about a time when maybe you did something that you weren't proud of,

Something you wish you would have done differently,

Or you don't have to think about any specifics at all,

But know that you are doing the best that you could at that moment in time with your level of consciousness and awareness and send yourself love and compassion.

And now say to yourself,

Either out loud or in your mind,

I forgive you in your name.

And keep repeating that.

I forgive you.

You can even alternate between,

I forgive you and I love you.

I forgive you.

I love you.

Can you notice a difference in your body or your heart?

Do you feel lighter or more open?

And now take a moment and have gratitude for yourself,

Thanking yourself for taking the time to do this practice,

Having love for yourself,

Because you're doing a great job.

You are doing the best that you can in each and every moment.

And now set an intention for today.

How do you wanna move forward from this space?

What type of person do you want to be?

And how are you choosing to show up in the world today?

And when you feel ready,

You can open your eyes.

And I hope you have a beautiful day.
