As the seasons transition, many can probably already feel the shift of both astrological and meteorological seasons — it's more than a chill. This guided meditation will help you focus on the amazing things you have in your life right now. A little bit of gratitude is more important than you might realize as the seasons change, and keeping these positive attributes in the forefront of your consciousness will keep your head up and the light in as we move into the darker colder months.

I'll tell you a little bit about what I call the ground rules.

These are some things that I ask that you consider as a foundation of meditation.

So there are four ground rules that I subscribe to.

Number one,

The brain is the most abused muscle in the body and when you sit down to meditate,

It might wander.

That's okay.

The idea of meditation is not trying to blank the mind.

This is the second precept.

The mind can never be blank.

It is meant to be a factory of thoughts and what we can do and what we will do today is select our thoughts and sequence them.

We will train our brain to be a positive ally.

Number three,

Think of meditation as a dance more than trying to solve a mathematical problem.

Don't let your head be your guide but instead let your heart be it.

As I'm going through this practice today,

You might have these thoughts like,

Oh but how does this compare with what I read there,

What I heard then,

What I saw here?

No.

How does it feel?

Let your heart be your guide and say,

Do I feel good about where we're going with this?

And if so,

Let's stay true to the course.

And number four,

Don't judge your meditation as good or bad.

Whatever unfolds is okay.

And know that no two days you could be meditating for 40 years all your life and you know that there will be some good days and some not so.

So stop judging.

Stop being harsh on yourself and allowing whatever needs to unfold to come through.

And today on this day of the equinox,

I want you to consider that we are all only true experts on our journey to enlightenment.

And let's filter all the information through our own hearts.

And as the sun begins to sink lower in the sky and the night becomes chilly and dark,

Before we even notice the changing colors with our eyes,

Our senses are telling us that the energy of the summer has come to an end,

At least here in the northern half of the world.

The autumn equinox is a meaningful time of year to honor the harvest.

Now,

Whether that is a real harvest of the things planted in your garden or the harvest of efforts and intentions for your life path that you set earlier in the year.

The changing seasons are key points in the cycle of life in nature.

And within the cycle,

Many ancient cultures perceived a powerful,

Deeper message for humanity.

Indigenous cultures recognized Earth-based wisdom and understood that the four focal points of the year,

Which are the winter solstice,

The spring equinox,

The summer solstice,

And the autumn equinox,

They all illuminated stages of our own inner spiritual journey,

A spiritual cycle that the individual takes within themselves.

Here in North America,

The autumn equinox arrives today,

Wednesday,

The 22nd of September,

2021.

And if those of us living in the United States or Canada or Mexico,

And if you're in the eastern time zone,

The exact moment of the equinox was at 321 p.

M.

Eastern time.

And for those of us living in Europe,

It's at 921 p.

M.

,

Officially marking the beginning of the fall and the starting of spring,

For those of you who are down under in the southern hemisphere.

And the word equinox means equal night,

Which means 12 hours of day and 12 hours of night.

And this happens only twice during the year.

And on the equinox,

We honor the balance and the interaction of the light and the dark.

And we may feel gratitude for the changes that come with the passing of time.

As we consciously link our awareness to the cycles of nature,

Our understanding of our own cycle begins to deepen.

Spiritually speaking,

Fall represents the harvest time of year,

A time to acknowledge growth,

Expansion as a natural evolution of being.

Our lives go through cycles like that,

Of one of growth,

Harvest,

Death,

And rebirth.

And we can see this all around us in nature.

So on this fall equinox,

You may want to honor all that you have in your life and shift your consciousness from one of lack to one of prosperity,

To gratitude in some way through a small ritual or ceremony.

It could be just lighting a candle or giving thanks,

Speaking your gratitude for all that you are and all that you have.

So let's take this next 20 minutes or so that we have ahead of us to sit in that state of thoughtfulness and meditation and open our minds and our senses to the intelligence of nature all around us.

In this time spent in thoughtfulness around the moment of equal light and equal dark,

Acknowledge your personal growth cycle and ask for harmony and balance to be the fertilizer in the soil of your life's garden.

Fall is the time of the year when we set up our internal space and make room for what's to come in the next year.

We create room for our greater visions to grow by loving the empty space and silence to take hold of our internal spaces.

And when we clear our internal ground in the fall,

We go into dormancy and then rest in the cold and the darkness of winter.

We're going to hibernation and become creative.

Creative not by doing,

But by becoming quiet and listening to what is trying to emerge from within us,

Through us,

For we are just instruments.

This is the time of the year to go within an empty out space.

Composting our old ideas and using the energy they hold to make new and fertile soil for new creativity and matured visions.

Winter is the time of the year for rest when the cold and freezing becomes the healing that sets the soil for spring and our rebirth.

I mean spring in our step,

Not just in season.

The significance of the autumn equinox for the person walking the spiritual path is the time of the year when we cultivate our new cycle of growth.

As we begin to be more homebound,

We become silent and rest and allow space for our greater vision to emerge.

As the days are getting shorter and the nights are getting longer,

We descend into the darkness of the night and face our own inner darkness.

The darkness within.

The ego,

The subconscious to prepare for the birth of the light within to celebrate at the winter solstice.

The heart of spiritual practice is internal and is usually invisible and unnoticed by anyone else.

By enacting the spiritual with a physical ritual,

We can both recognize and make concrete our spiritual process that is just as much a part of our reality as the material world.

I encourage you to take some time today the 22nd of September to acknowledge your life cycle and the spiritual path that you're on.

In doing so you're honoring not only your own growth and the light within,

But the ancient wisdom that has served our health and our wellness for thousands of years.

Namaste.

I honor the light in you that is the love of all things.

Without your existence,

This universe would be dim and all of existence would miss you.

And as our planet stands upon a precipice of enormous change and transformation,

Each one of us has a choice to make.

How will you participate in the great turning of our times?

I invite you to please bring your palms together in prayer position at your heart center.

And let's rub our palms against each other to kindle the prana.

The palms are an energy vortex and as you rub them against each other,

You are igniting chi,

Life force.

And when you feel like you've ignited a nice warm ball of chi,

I want you to go ahead and apply that one with each palm on either eye.

And bless yourself.

Let this chi flow into your entire being.

May complete clarity reign in my mind.

My love reign in my heart.

May health reign in my entire body.

May the obstacles in my life be removed.

And may I live with purpose.

I want you to take your palms and let them face outwards as if you're sending a blessing to the world with your eyes still closed.

And I want you to think of someone,

Some people or some place that could use some blessings right now,

Some healing energy.

And on this day of the great turning of the seasons and this auspicious time,

Let us send them a blessing.

Beams of light emerging from the center of our palms.

Going towards a person,

People or place.

And giving them the upliftment,

The confidence,

The willpower,

The conviction,

The clarity,

Whatever they need.

Such that they too may feel love reigns in their heart.

Clarity reigns in their mind.

Health reigns in their body.

And may the obstacles be removed.

And I want you to sit in the awareness of being the soul seated in the third eye,

The crown of your forehead.

And this body is just a costume.

The supreme soul,

The great light,

The great spirit is above me.

Showering down unconditional love,

Unconditional strength.

And I become a channel for which that energy passes through me and into this world.

Envision the beautiful planet,

Our home,

Mother Earth in front of us.

And let us channel that light as if we are mirrors that reflect the rays of the sun.

And let that light engulf the entire planet.

Let it surround it and embrace our Mother Earth with that healing energy.

May all of us live as one family.

May love reign in our lives,

In our hearts and in our interactions.

May there be empathy.

May suffering end on this planet.

If any one being is hurting,

We all hurt.

And may their suffering be removed.

And embracing,

Giving a warm,

Tight hug to our Mother Nature,

Planet Earth.

Let us bring our palms back together in prayer position at our heart center.

Take a moment with a bow of gratitude for everyone and everything that made this moment possible.

And ask ourselves,

How do I feel right now?

And if you could summarize that in one word,

What would that be?

And I want you to go ahead and please share that one word in the chat window.
